Yup.
He didn't sell it to Gamestop, though. He ran over it with a car because he thought someone would give him $10,000.

Sony should stop poking the bear. It's hungry and will bite back. :)

Not too sure about that...First of all you can't even mod the slim yet. And secondly, the only way I know one can unban a fat 360 is to swap the motherboard. There are people who buy a new one, open it up, swap the mobo, and then return the newly purchased 360 with the banned motherboard.
this is way over the line. To unban the console, one has to steal other people's console ID? this is crime.

But the world isn't black and white, Sony isn't making a lot of money on PS3 sales, and they made a huge loss the first years. They offered us a great and powerful machine for less that it cost to make it and we should be grateful for it and respect their strategy as a company. Now this hackers are trying to completely eliminate Sony's strategy and by releasing hacks that enables any user to play pirated content, for which obviously Sony doesn't make any profit. What do we want? Do we want that companies like Sony to stop releasing consoles and good developers to stop making games for it? It's not the same as the music, film or TV industries since those can make money from other sources, but videogames are pretty much screwed on piracy, specially for smaller developers.

You realize that the exact same thing can be said about the Xbox 360 right? They were taking loses on each console sold and it was hacked within a year. MS used the same strategy as Sony and they are doing fine with the 360 as will Sony. People are over exaggerating the effects of this hack. The 360 has many times more modded consoles than the PS3 and always will, and the Xbox online isn't filled with hackers and pirates. Yes they exist, but they are few and far between. As long as Sony keeps releasing good games, they will make plenty of money.
The Wii is also modded and look how much money it has made. Folks need to stop being over dramatic.
This is EXACTLY the kind of creative stuff I've been waiting for.
This whole hacking situation has made the ps3 more interesting to me.
I'm waiting for the next price drop then I'm gonna buy a ps3 and hack the hell out of it
I just hope it doesn't get bricked by sony

Sony should should stop poking the bear. Hacker bear has chainsaw hands and shotgun feets. It's starving and angry and will unleash maximum carnage upon Sony HQ in tokyo, the likes of which haven't been seen since GODZILLA

No, it started when Geohot screwed things up for everyone, it seems NO ONE ever remembers that part.
