What name would you give the 7th generation?

Wii 35 38.89%

PS3 10 11.11%

X360 3 3.33%

HD (PS360) 42 46.67%

Total:90

Every generation went by the name of the highest selling console.

Example:

1st generation = Nes generation

2nd generation = Snes generation

3rd generation = Playstation generation

etc

But this generation seems to be different compared to others, usually when a console is picked the leader of the generation it continues to dominate in hardware and software for the whole generation. But the 7th generation is definitely not playing out like the other generations, the Wii was first dubbed the leader but from the lack of 3rd party support is now put the Wii in a very bad position compared to the competition. So that's why calling this generation the Wii generation is a little questionable.

IMO I think the genration should be decided by 3rd party suppose (where all the good games are going), so I'm going to say that this is the HD generation. I'd like to call it the PS3 generation but that time is not here yet lol.

Easily the Motion Generation, none of the names work.

Copycat generation?

I'm not even sure we call these generations "the Nes Generation" or whatever.  I've always heard them called "The 8-Bit Era", the "16-Bit Era" and so-forth.  The N64/Playstation era was still called "The 32-Bit Era", though.  If I had to name this era, I would call it "Charlie".

Personally, I think I'll call it "bitchfest."

Seriously though, I think I'd call it "The Great Divide" since it has seen some pretty big shifts in many areas and effectively split the market, it also works with mind to the blistering handheld market we're seeing right now.

The HD Era. All we need now is for Nintendo to join in and we have all 3 consoles released!

Who the heck calls the fourth generation "SNES generation"? I'm sorry, but that's just plain inaccurate. You simply cannot ignore that big blue hedgehog staring at you. And "Playstation generation", really? So you're really gonna ignore most of the games that show up on the best games of all time lists too many freaking times?

This one is definitely the motion generation, though.

“These are my principles; if you don’t like them, I have others.” – Groucho Marx

You can be less partisan regarding names for the generations. Victory does not give the whole scope of the generation, and declaring the 5th to be the "PlayStation generation" is disingenuous to the other contributions made

Gen 1 (Coleco Telstar, Pong Home System, Magnavox Odyssey): The Early Years
Gen 2 (2600, Intellivision, Vectrex, Channel F, Colecovision, Odyssey2): The 8-bit Dark Ages
Gen 3 (NES, Master System, 7800): The 8-bit Golden Age
Gen 4 (SNES, Genesis, T16, Neo Geo): The 16-bit Revolution
Gen 5 (PS1, N64, Saturn, 3DO, Jaguar): The 3D Format War
Gen 6 (PS2, Xbox, GC, DC): The 3D Golden Age
Gen 7 (Wii, 360, PS3): The Interface Revolution

and when the 3rd party support for the generation is really having no noticeable impact on differentiating the consoles, it has little real meaning to determine how this gen will be remembered. Games not called Call of Duty and not made by Nintendo, Microsoft, or Sony, will be very lucky to be remembered 20 years from now

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Lame-ass buggy, glitchy casual motion controlled piece of shit generation. That sum it up?
