No love for Monster Hunter Tri means someone at Nintendo Power will be in serious trouble tonight...

*sends out men to deal with NP CEO*

In all seriousness, the NP choices seem fair, but what were the readers smoking for some of those answers? No Kirby either???

I'm not gonna even read this shit and I know the answer is SMG2, so why even bother reading, while I can play the TRUE best game of 2010?

Above: still the best game of the year.

No love for Monkeys too!

"Best Retro Revival
NP: Donkey Kong Country Returns
Readers: Donkey Kong Country Returns"

Why is Donkey Kong considered "Retro" (aka old game)? FPS are really old too, and I don't see anyone calling Black Ops "retro". Ditto for racing games such as Gran Turismo 5, or Puzzle games. Puzzle games are extremmely old (older 2d than platforming games by the way), yet no one calls them retro. It is almost offensive. When they need to have a separated category for the games that can't be considered true game of the today age, they call it "retro". Bullshit.

Err... because the franchise hadn't seen a true platform game of the franchise for some thirteen years? You are kind of missing the point. I bet Kid Icarus 3DS will win it next year.

Donkey Kong Country Returns should have won game of the year and MH Tri should have something.  Anything.  Anything at all.

NP readers voted Sonic 4 higher than Cave Story?  I played it round a friend's house and it wasn't that good

My guess is that more readers bought and played Sonic 4 than they did Cave Story. Popular games get an automatic advantage when you let the readers vote, which is why I mostly don't pay attention to Reader's Choice Awards.

Neither did GoldenEye. And I'm talking mroe about the gameplay style, not the franchises, in other words, this happened because the game is 2D. I would bet with you one thousand VGChartz points that if it was a Donkey Kong 64 sequel they wouldn't call it retro.

Monster Hunter Tri lacked a true multiplayer mode, but it had great online. Personally I think Kirby Epic Yarn is the best multiplayer game of the year.

As for graphics. Mario Galaxy 2 is very similar to the first game; but Sonic Colours did a lot of things graphically that no other game has done before. Some of the levels are like an LSD overdose. It does not surprise me that Sonic Colours won.

Mario Galaxy 2 is obvious game of the year, I would say that there is very little chance that any game will top it this generation. I find it very strange that some reward shows suggested otherwise, it is, in my opinion, the most satisfying game to play through on the Wii, and so far overall of this generation; I have played limited PS3 titles (MGS4, SF4, FF13, GTA4, Assassins Creed trilogy) but lots of PSP and DS titles. 15-20- years from now, I will likely still want to play Mario Galaxy 2 over any other 3D Mario title.
