Forums - Gaming Discussion - Think I'm taking a year off buying games..

Seriously, besides Gears 3, Skyrim, and maybe Zelda, I'm going on a year long gaming purchase hiatus.. And as far as the 3DS, I'm in no rush to get that.

For one, I have little money to even spend, and even if I did, there are few games coming out this year that I even would want. Plus, I have a HUGE backlog of games I still gotta tackle; Epic Mickey, DQXI, Red Steel 2, Sin and Punishment, Assassin's Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Monster Hunter Tri.. the list goes on. More than enough to keep me occupied for quite awhile. I dunno, I just feel like I gotta tone down the reckless spending on games, which is not cheap.. I usually end up selling many of them back anyway.

Anyone else gonna stop buying games or at least tone down the purchases for awhlie for whatever reason, either because of a lackluster year of gaming/lack of funds, or both?

2011 seems to me as the most dynamic gaming year compared to last couple of years. So the content is not a problem at all. There are lot of games i want to play which are coming this year but i am going to wait for price drop and grab them on sale. My backlog is getting ever so massive too. This summer i starting to feel like it was school homework :P. So i went a bit hardcore and beat some of the games and traded them. Now i just grab an odd game on sale. There are two games i think i am getting for sure this year. Uncharted 3, Journey and i guess Red Dead Redemption GOTY or just the regular one on sale :)

Yeah dude I'm definitely taking it easy on purchases as of late, and into the future. There's only 3 games I'll buy for sure this year (Resistance 3, Skyrim and Uncharted 3). Besides those 3 games I'm going to keep a tight seal on my wallet.

I'm on the same boat. Skyrim, portal 2, dota 2, and if it comes out, diablo 3, will be my only must buys. I don't even have the time to beat all the games i got during the holidays and its not like I got too many. Although I have preordered a 3ds, it will either be sold on ebay or become a gift to my cousin depending on ebay cost.

I think I'm going to be doing the exact opposite, normally I wait for games to come down to atleast 35 before I buy them sometimes even more but with so many games coming out this year, (dark souls, Infamous 2, Last guardian, Batman Arkum city, portal 2, twisted metal, malicious ect.) I think I might be buying more games at full price then ever before

Man your not actually stopping purchasing games your just purchasing the three best ones you know of. I bet after E3 2011 your going to purchase another 2 or 3 currently unnannounced games. Your title is misleading as you are still going to buy games just not as many as you have in the past.

As for me, I have Duke Nukem , Pokemon Black and White and Zelda which I will be purchasing for sure. But I know come E3 their will be 4 or 5 new games I will want to buy. Am I going to buy as many as I have in the past like you aren't, possibly. But just like you I will still be buying several titles.

Is anyone actuall going to forgo buying any games this year? I doubt it!

Maybeee, if they didn't release soo many games all at once, we might have a chance of actually living without the stress of playing another game. But that's just me. I guess they're anticipating 2012 or something by launching everything they got all at once.

Without The Last Guardian that is gaming suicide.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I have money issues. Yet, this might be the year in which I spend morey money on games (excluding systems). There are so many games I truly desire coming out that there's no other way!!

And let us hope E3 doesn't surprises us with more.

i am the opposite and rampting up the buying to have 2011 my biggest year i can because i need to play more games

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
