Winner again. I think this is the year of the X360.

Sure looks like it!  More and more people buying/playing X360 every week in the last bunch of months!  Might be the people's choice this year.

man Xbox is eating their competitors...sad thing for Wii...for PS3 isnt that bad because it rarely sold better than the Xbox in america...but still my opinion is that Sony should do something over there...i think Sony is a little bit too optimistic with KZ3...maybe Sony think this will have a little impact and yes it will maybe have...but only for one week and Xbox is outselling PS 2:1...and Killzone will never push like 60-70k more consoles over there ^^

Price price price

$299 is where PS3 is at, thats where PS2 launched. Lets be happy to see PS3 doing this well worldwide despite that.

Wait till $199...

Same can be said of the 360.  It hasn't had a price cut in two years and is in the drivers seat in terms of price drop.  Sony is for sure not dropping price this year IMO, they just started posting profit for the first time since launch on the PS3 which so far has been a financial disaster.  They need to make that money back and are much more concerned with profits than with market share.

That being said the 360 will be hitting the $149 price point this year and it will be the best selling console in America for the year, outselling Wii.

@Bolded: I disagree with this. IMO Sony surely won't cut price first because the PS3 is profitable and it still sells pretty well, so there's no need to cut its' price (so I partly agree). But they will cut price when MS and Nintendo do it. I mean, if/when the price of the 360 drops to $149 it would be just half as expensive as the cheapest PS3 sku and it would hurt Sony/PS3 more not to cut price as well. Of course, this is about America.
In Europe (I'm leaving out MEAA here for obvious reasons) the PS3 (without a price cut) would probably still sell more than the 360 because it's only selling worse than the 360 in UK, but better in most parts of continental Europe. But I don't think that this would be enough for Sony.

About 360 outselling the Wii in America: I think it's very likely and I would even go a little further and say that it will be in 2nd place in every region (being beaten by the 360 in Americas and by the PS3 in EMEAA and Japan). Nothing is for sure of course, but it could definitely happen.

2012 - Top 3 [so far]

lol... nice spin.

The X360 is $299 and is selling like hotcakes despite being one year older, less powerful, no bluray, no free online. (the Arcade is for casuals, minor sales)

Both will drop to $249 this year and the sales ratio will be maintained.

Slimebeast lets not pretend there isn't a $199 Xbox 360 SKU and that SKU doesn't sell well.

Your basically comparing the costliest Xbox 360 SKU with the cheapest PS3 one. Don't forget the costliest PS3 SKU is still $349.

@BenVTtrigger

Yeah 360 hasn't had a price cut in 2 years either. But as PS3 costs more in general a price cut should have a greater effect as your going from a comparably higher price to a lower price.

ugh, well that settles it. Pretty sure I'm done checking the sales numbers until the holidays. Besides being boring and slow, they are just depressing. 360 running away with worldwide sales become of.. Kinect? Really? And Wii in third? Cries a tear for gaming :'(

Though I can't really feel bad for Nintendo, they did this too themselves for focusing too much on niche hardcore games back in 2010 and abandoning fresh games that appealed to a wide audience like Wii Fit, Mario Kart, and NSMB. DKC was the one saving grace, but it wasn't quite big enough to singlehandedly lift Wii sales like NSMB was. That's not to say Wii is "doomed" or anything, it's done great this gen, it's just they could have done so much better.

Guess I'll just stick to the gamerconnect portion of this site :/

*See Wii #s*

Oh boy...

Nah, Wii will see a price cut, and get crazy sales this fall with Zelda as well, and maybe a limited edition green Wii.

However until E3, I think the HD consoles will continually outsell the Wii, PS3 will need a few weeks to surpass Wii in Americas, but it wll happen. 360 should also be above Wii soon in EMEAA.

What happens if the PS3 and X360 gets a price cut aswell? (which is very likely to happen this year).

Whenever you see your system doing bad just imagine what kind of hell it must've been for us PS3 fans when it was being outsold by the GBA back in 2007. That will make you feel better about the situation of your console.

Yeah, my buddy PS3 took a lot of crap back then.  I'd say it's about time for some retribution.  Wii will make a good amount of it back later anyway lol, no worries.

Yup...12 million Kinect units by E3, and watch how many of these "hardcore" publisher will discuss "interesting" projects they are working on...standby for tons of shovelware...but VERY likely some real gems as well...

Why do you think what Kinect is doing is worse than what Wii does/did?

Does Kinect have NSMB, DKC, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, or Monster Hunter? :P

Kinect is Wii taken in all the wrong directions. It is all the 3rd party shovelware that Wii currently has, minus the solid 1st and 2nd party offerings. Hope I don't get modded for that comment, but it's my honest opinion.
