Beuli2, I have to say that this your best thread, your others are slightly tedious.  I am guessing you are taking the fact that the Gameboy Advanced surpassed the DS' sales in it's debut year 2004 into consideration. Thus a year afterwards the 3DS will surpass the DS' sales.

But you have to remember that the DS only launched on the last week of November, so it only had 1 month of sales while the GBA had the full year. In that perspective, this puts the 3DS in advantage.

     I have seen many times when something  that was supposed to be impossible to happen. And you also didn't read all of my points. You seem to have forgotten that the 3DS is only launching in Japan right now, so it won't just "outsell DS every week of the year, case closed". Just for the information, the GBA still outsold the DS months after it's launch in Novemeber 2004 (up to February to be more specific), and after that, in March, the DS was released in Europe as well, but some weeks after this, the GBA was still selling on par with the DS (a difference of 15.000 - 20.000 units). In the end of 2005, the year the DS was full on, it has sold about 11 millions and the GBA almost 9 millions, only a 2 millions difference. And given the factors I wrote on the OP, yes, I believe the DS to outsell the 3DS in 2011.

When the GBA outsold the DS, DS was still a novelty not a household name. 3DS won't have that problem.

When I said "3DS will sell more week one, and from there on it will outsell DS every week of the year", I meant if the system is launched in the major three area's.

Still twist it whatever way you won't by june/july 3DS will be lightyears ahead of DS YTD sales.

Incoming reports state that 3DS sold ~400k in Japan in one day!

That's 1/4th of total DS YTD sales in one day, in the smallest region!

People can't honestly expect DS will have the slightest chance at outselling 3DS.

as far as i know the 3ds is backward compatible so i think this makes the 3ds more attractive because if you plan to buy a ds you get the 3d inclusive. ok it cost a bit more but if you plan to buy the 3ds later anyway more people will buy the 3ds instead of just the ds

if the 3DS keeps up this pace it could sell almost 123 million by jan 1 of 2012

im guessing 15-20 million units by then.
