And that's why there is a console version, the first Crysis became nothing but a benchmarking tool thanks to piracy, Crysis 2 is likely to follow suit, thanks to (many, not all of them of course) PC gamers master race lol

The original Crysis sold some 3 million copies, mind you. Maybe most of it came only when the game was pretty cheap but I remember seeing news about it passing 1 million not long after release.

3m is about the number of people in the world with super high-end rigs that feel like they need a game that uses all that powerr - whether it does so efficiently or not, or whether it's a good game or not. Apart from the graphics it was an average shooter (from what I've seen in LPs/reviews; haven't played it).

Ok...All games are leaked to pirates. What makes this so news worthy?

It's a developer version a little over a month before the full version's supposed to be released? Also, it includes a master key of some sort.

yes

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

Who would pirate Crysis? You'll have paid some $1000 for a computer that can run it, and you can't pay another $50 for the actual game?

have you actually played it? Yes the story was awful. But the special powers made it one of the more fun shooters this gen.

No. I haven't. I'll edit my post to clarify that.

exactly why most pirates excuses are flawed because also they have enough money to pay for super fast internet to download all the games.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

From what I've seen online, the build is buggy and only DX9 medium settings, and it still looks fantastic.  Everyone with the hardware will still want to get this for DX11 and maximum settings, and to not have to look at placeholders.

More than 3million copies sold is not.... bad... (plus more than 1.5m from Crysis Warhead). With a $22m budget. PC exclusive.

I doubt Crysis 2 will sell more than 3m on either platform. Only combined.

Figure there are a fair amount of PC gamers who spend everything they have on hardware with the idea in mind that they can just pirate any software, games or otherwise instead of paying for it and buying/building a lower spec system.

Others pirate Crysis with the faulty justification that they're "just using it for benchmark testing."

It's messed up, but it happens more than most who advocate consumer rights in regards to anti-piracy measures are willing to admit.

Between the hardware, upgrades and network connection, they either have no money left for software or would simply rather spend their money on more hardware rather than pay for software.

You really can't do anything about that line of thinking short of more DRM, anti-piracy meaures and prosecuting offenders.
