Forums - Nintendo - Why did Gamecube get served???

Besides Resident Evil 4, it had shitty 3rd-party support.

I liked GameCube more than PS2 and XBox because I was a Nintendo fan but overall that Gen wasn't very good IMO. I started playing games during the N64/PS Gen and both that Gen and the current Gen are way better to me. All the systems of that Gen were worse than the previous. IMO it goes...PS>PS3>PS2 and Wii>64>GC. The GC had some of the worst versions of Nintendo's franchises...examples of this include:

Mario Kart Double Dash sucked compared to Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart Wii.

Super Mario Sunshine was a big dissapointment compared to Mario 64, Mario Galaxy, and Mario Galaxy 2.

StarFox Adventures and Assault were inferier to StarFox 64.

Melee was worse than Super Smash 64 and Brawl

No true Donkey Kong/Rare.

The only thing that the GC was over the 64 and Wii is it had Pikmin and Pikmin 2...soon Wii should have 3 so...LOL.

Because it was for kids and queers!!!

That's what I heard on the streets.

Dude, it is 2011. The question asked should be, Why is Nintendo destroying all the competition in every single catagory?(Software, hardware, homeconsole, handheld)

Because they were the exact same thing as the ohter guys, just worse minus the first party titles.  The Wii is not a great piece of hardware, niether the graphics OR the original motion controls (before wii plus).  It's a crappy machine, but it isn't what is out there already.

If you are going to do what the rest of the market is doing, you better be top notch.  If you're not doing what the rest of the market is, you can save yourself the financial trouble of being top notch.  Right now everyone is trying to get down with the whole motion control scheme.

If that is what the next home console generation is all about, then you can expect to see Nintendo lose if they try to repeat another gamecube.  They'll fail since the other guys can outspend on motion technology.

What amuses me most about the last three generations of Nintendo is you still have the hardcore Ninty's posting threads such as this. The N64 had a terrible controller and in comparison to the Playstation, much less games worth noting imo.In the 6th gen it happened again but on a massive scale,if you times the sales of the gamecube by 5 it still wouldn't be anywhere near the 150 million PS2's sold.

Ninty's were pretty much down and out and then Nintendo strikes gold with the gimmicks....sorry,"innovations" they've added to gaming. The Wii brought Nintendo's success back, where as I think they should have just ceased to make home consoles and stuck with handhelds.

With frequent talk of Apple joing the fray in soon to come years Nintendo will be out of their depth imo.I've never liked hardcore ninty's who wonder why the gamecube didn't sell, and then complain when the wii does sell but it's not good enough for them cause their hardcore ninty's.Get your head out of the 80's,and buy a Playstation if you want true Japanese ingenuity when it comes to Home Console design.

Playstation gaming for 18 years this 2012

^^^ let me just go ahead and stop you right there, anyone who's seen my post b4 already knows im not a hardcore Ninty fan, not even close. Ive only owned 2 Ninty home consoles. GC & Wii. I knew that it wasnt going to beat PS2 I was just shocked that an upstart was able to add more salt to their wounds.  I dont care what Wii sells, I just get slightly pissed when I see it flooded with Just Dance, WiiSports and Fit knock offs, but im starting to care less, cause i got PS3 and honestly thats where most of my gaming is done.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

@jarrod  Capcom has not support a Ninty system with fighting games since SNES, I dont know why people has expected that to change. N64 didnt even get a damn Capcom fighter. I was actually shocked that Cvs.S2 even went to GC. As for other fighters, the GC controller sucked for fighters thats that. I dont think its a WTF move, Capcom just really dont give Ninty consoles fighter support. Sucks for Wii only owners but I dont know why some are surprised no different than it was for the last few gens

If you have a good  controller option then Capcom will usually port at least one of their fighters to your system.  N64 didn't have one though. Nintendo needed a widespread controller option with a decent dpad to play Capcom fighters, and that finally happened with  the Classic Controller and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom on the Wii.  The gamecube dpad was way too small and the Hori digital controller was a good option, but that was Japan only (and I personally used the Pelican Retro pad).

I hope that Capcom tries to revisit the Nintendo fans of old as Street Fighter II on the SNES is still Capcoms best selling fighter, and best selling game ever at 6.3 million copies sold!  Even Street Fighter II Turbo on the SNES alone sold better than the combined sales of Street Fighter IV on PS3 & X360.  Capcom should remember that there's still SF fans here.
