Japan - Mistwalker Titles:

The Last Story 2nd Week - 19K

Blue Dragon 2nd Week - 18K

Lost Oddessey 2nd Week - 12K

Sad isn't it?...Blue Dragon was released on an console with an userbase of what;. 300.000 units?
And The Last Story is hardly doing much better on an console with 10.000.000 units sold;...

I wonder what Sakaguchi is thinking now?

Barring amazing sales in the West (lol) this could be the end for Sakaguchi...

It is very painful for me to say that The Last Story has bombed, but unfortunately it is true, absolutely terrible second week drop.

White Knight Chronicles franchise is already dead and please Bamco let Dragon Ball rest in pace.

Second week sales for other RPG new IP in Japan (according to VGChartz)

Resonance of Fate - 33K (PS3 and 360)

Valkyria Chronicles - 21K

Blue Dragon - 18K

ASH - 21 K

White Knight Chronicles - 73K (24K in the third week)

Lost Odyssey - 12K

Infinite Undiscovery - 10K

Eternal Sonata - 18K (360 and PS3, the PS3 version was released later)

Folklore - 6K

Second week of some RPG's on Wii in Japan (according to VGChartz)

Xenoblade - 21K

Tales of Graces - 25K

Dawn of the New World - 23K

Arc Rise Fantasia - 7K

Opoona - 1K

Shiren the Wanderer - 12K

Kizuna - 688 (XD)

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - 20K

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

So, do people still think TLS had shortages?

Xenoblade second week was better than TLS

04. / 01. [WII] Xenoblade (Nintendo) - 20.810 / 103.762 (-75%)

Well looking at Amazon Japan ratings TLS has a good word of mouth but it seems Xenoblade has a better word of mouth (4.5/5 stars on average compared to TLS 4/5) so maybe thats the reason for Xenoblades better hold in Week 2.

I have completely lost all hope in new IP JRPG's now. If TLS couldn't be big I don't think anything can now. Ninokuni (PS3) is probably gonna flop too looking at how overshipped the DS version was. This is very sad.

Sakaguchi and Nintendo are probabily thinking one thing... localise. that could establish a very strong sales response overseas.

but i dont know if its bombed. as long as it says in the top 20 then it could end up doing 300k in Japan and this is good for a new IP. but personally i didnt know what to expect, i thought because it was Sakaguchi this would do over 1mil in Japan alone.

i think its down to the choice of platform ultimately. which is a shame, because of the Wii's casual userbase. however i'm uncertain, this could end up doing 500k in Japan alone (similar to Tales of Graces) but we dont know what was expected of TLS. is 200k a success, is 300k a success!?

Nice sales for most, well, except for the PSP Go, sadly

Impressed by TLS, well, sorta. It's on-track for around 250k LT in Japan, good enough for a localisation hopefully!

...

...

(Is TLS going to be the main focus of the Japanese sales threads for the next few weeks then?)

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I would say the end of Sakaguchi working with Nintendo (again, lol). but i'm sure TLS sales are not down to the quality of the title, but the casual Wii userbase. imo the western sales will generate a good response. the old FF fans (SNES) wont let Sakaguchi down - that is who i assume would be buying his games.
