Forums - Microsoft - Can GTA 4 tip the balance of the PS3/Xbox 360 console war in favor of Xbox?

There is no *new* episodic content. They originally announced 2 episodes and we now know one will arrive in fiscal '08 and the other in '09. The thing I want to know is whether they will be developed by Rockstar North or one of the other R* studios.

Here's the quote - and I recommend reading s-l-o-w-l-y ...

Take-Two said that GTA IV remains on track for release during the second fiscal quarter of 2008 fiscal second quarter (meaning between February 1 and April 30). The previously announced episodic content for the game will also arrive in fiscal 2008. However, beyond that, Take-Two said in the next year, the Xbox 360 version would receive still more new episodic content.

You may retract your statement at this time. Thank you.

MS made a system that was too weak this gen and games are suffering, Halo3 was a bust, the game sucked for the most part. Now its just time for MS to screw the PS3 owners over by forcing R* to make the game the same on each system.

Hello, class. This is a classic example of Sony fanboyism hard at work. Notice the lack of sources and the like - just a biased rant with absolutely no real value or meaning. Thanks for sharing!

oh god did griffin actually said this? he really did huh?

jesus christ..

do casual gamers know about episodic content though? How many casuals who will be swayed by GTA know about all that stuff?

Over 50% of people buying it don't know there's extra content.
Over 75% of people don't care if there's extra content ( even the ones buying the 360 version)

I don't think the content is gonna be making a big difference.

I doubt most know the difference, I think hardware across both platforms will rise that week.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Has anyone ever spoken up as to why MS seem to have the exclusive rights on GTA content?

It's probably not exclusive, but they sure talk about the 360 getting more updates than the PS3 version.

@Blade

Microsoft will have the largest boost, and ps3 Hardware will drop.

I know for certain they will cut the price of the X360 by
$100.00 a couple of weeks before GTA 4 releases.

How? Care to clue us in?

GTA doesn't attract the Wii-type of crowds, so yes, GTA gamers will be very interested in additional content.  They're not casual to the point where they hear of GTA and just go buy it. Millions of copies have been sold already and the hype is building. There is NO game bigger on the horizon, even MGS.

Hate to break it to you bro (assuming you're a dude), but Sony's not some small little start-up mom-and-pop shop. If anything, I think Sony brings in more actual revenue than MS.

Remember, Sony sells $2- and 3-thousand dollar TV's.

However, while Sony has a lot of hardware and production costs, MS is more into the intellectual properties.
