Vanquish was massively over-shipped, they will only be able to get rid of their first shipment with a massive price cut as they previously did with MadWorld.

Realy? O.o how much was it over shipped?

Too much. Sega should realise by now what sales they can expect from these games. After all, it's around the same area as, say, The Conduit and Madworld. So, they should've seen it coming!

To be fair its the retailers fault. SEGA can't force games on to retailers, SEGA might be good at convincing retailers to take on games and Vanquish (from the trailers/concept) seemed like a on paper winner in terms of sales so retailers probably expected more copies to be sold which is fair enough.

By now retailers should have realised they overstocked past SEGA games, but again on paper vanquish seemed like it could sell a lot.

Tekken 6 was overshipped in eu by over 1.5 Million units (yes it really was) so this isn't even that bad.

True. But much of the blame should also be placed on Sega PR, if these games were advertised better to the public from day 1, then they wouldn't have excess stock...

Yeah someone needs to tell SEGA PR that there are more ways of marketing that handing out leaflets

And to think in the Genesis days SEGA used to have the best marketing.

They still had a console back then as well. Times have changed, and it seems Sega don't care as much about how much their games sell. Which is all the worse really. A dip in quality means million-sellers are no longer certain, they should've realised this

But TLS' debut outsold both, correct?

Indicative that, at least in Japan, RPG's aren't dead. And the world will be a better place because of that

Conegamer - I say that the PS3 will beat the DS next week in Japan  (for hardware sales) Forfeit is control over others avatar for 1 week.

Vanquish huge overship, it will probably not sell a single copy more than 800K lifetime.

It's already down at $30 in my country.

Pretty much, yeah. They talk a lot about shipped numbers to big up their sales, when actually they were heavily over-shipped and being sold either at a loss or a very, very small profit for Sega

Personally, I can see them making a loss on this game. It's not often I say that
