I agree. Too much hate for a great game IMHO
Also, @pacman91- You should do that, but there's so many different options you may never come out the other side
@conegamer i know, right!! i mean, im shocked that such a poorly received game like Red Steel is given a free pass just because of some meh multi. IMHO thats the crap id expect to hear from the HD crowd(especially the Xboxers) "oh the campaign is only four hours long the story doesnt make sense, but thats ok I plucked down 60 bucks just to play multi, who cares about the single player???" ive actually had fools tell me this before. ugh. I would never expect this feeling from Wii owners as well, im a little flabergasted. This FPSgenre cannot go away fast enough, after Bioshock Infinite, im done. RPGs on consoles are not in a good place no matter what you have, i think they'll be primarily on the portables for the forseeable future, except for WRPGS which have taken off. platformers, could come back I can see that.
@pacman if im being perfectly honest I dont think GE made that much of an impact on it. BOs on Wii was never gonna have the HD sales, not even close. I think they were banking on the fact that maybe multiplat owners will pick up the GE AND an HD COD game. A good portion of the Wii audience (the Wiifit/justdance) crowd it seems does not care for that genre. no matter who is in it.
I was actually playing on doing some threads like that, but I wasnt going to relegate it to Wii, but damn their are so many of those its nuts. I think my next one will be Just Cause 2, Metroid Other M, and The World Ends With You, some really good games that I feel didnt get the recognition/props it deserves
I tried it at a friend's house and found it pathetically repetitive. the concept was great, but it need far more variety. and a better story. and multiplayer. It was, to me, a mediocre game at best.
and as for the FPS genre in general, im with you oniyide. im gonna pick up a few more and then im done for a good long time. it is really starting to feal like the WWII concept all over again.
I know that it's been sadi time and again, but it's that the game didn't have multiplayer. If the game had just a split screen multiplayer like the original did ( it didn't even need online) the game would have sold much better. Normally I'd agree with the people saying that this game would be able to stand on it's own if the single player was solid, but this is a FPS. People have wanted multiplayer for this sort of game since the original GoldenEye. This would have had swords too, and multiplayer swordfighting would have been a huge draw.

Haha, it was more of a joke, but that would be interesting. Sounds like oniyide might be doing that anyway...although if he were to skip over boom blox bash party, maybe i'd do it :b
@oniyide Goldeneye probably did garner many more sales b/c of nostalgia and what not, but if it wasn't around, black ops would have had ~300K more sales at this point. Activision probably maxed sales, but black ops wii didn't sell it's fullest potential b/c of it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this way. Let a new genre take over from here!
I agree that BO and Goldeneye wasn't the worst thing to do, but there's no denying it would have hurt sales in some respect...
@Pacman- I know it was a joke. But it'd still be a good idea. Let's not forget about all the HD flops though: Nier, Bionic Commando, Dark Void, Lost Planet 2 to name a few

I am so tempted to dive into bash party...hell and rage would be fired upon me though.
True, HD has sales bombs aswell. I'm almost hesitant to pass judgement on the success of many of those games b/c of the lack of PC sale knowledge. I'd doubt any non valve game would sell better on the PC than PS360, but you never know. Also, multi-platform means the same general design is applied to the same game across multiple consoles. That'll surely bring down the development cost while selling the game to more consumers. Wii exclusives like Madworld, Red Steel 2, etc are one trick ponies (aside from porting).

The thing is, they got the controls locked down. And then went and released a game that feels unfinished.
It's just as bad as building a game with crappy controls and then add a lot of extended play content that nobody have the heart to play due to bad controls.

Regardless of the excuse, its pretty evident the Wii audience little interest in core titles. A core game having poor sales on Wii isn't thread worthy. Its generally what happens and why developers have pulled support. |
I agree. This thread is very pointless.
