Forums - Gaming - Where's the rumble on handhelds?

Neither 3DS nor PSP2 are coming with rumble. Why?

Would it be a good idea to have the whole console shake about? Hard to see, rattles the components, potentially causing wear and last but certainly not least; it would shorten the already pathetic battery times further (it would require a bigger, more energy consuming motor than simply shaking a gamepad).

No, I think this is a bad idea to be honest.

Eh, with something as fragile as a handheld, I really don't want anything to increase the risk of dropping and breaking it.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

You'd probably have a hard time focusing on the screen? Also rattles the fragile console compontents - unlike contollers which don't have the whole console inside them

we have them on phones why not on the most advanced handheld of all time?

just stick a little vibration thingy in there (no pun?) like on cell phones and I'll be happy. It can actually add alot to games.

people are already complaining about the battery life of the 3DS, it would be even shorter if rumble was used

The vibration in phone would do almost nothing, and be so useless in comparison to what is possible on a dualshock or other. GT 5, somehow, can rumble in such a way that you know what is happening to the car (one of my favourite things about the game) and a simple vibration would not be able to convey any affects like that

why not? I never heard a cell phone break its internal components because it "'vibrates'''..

3DS and NGP should've had something similar too...

The Ds rumbles it just wasnt built into the system, you had to insert a rumble pack into the GBA slot and a game that had rumble support, it really enhanced the gameplay further.

dont know about your cell phones but some of mine have had some real kick to them. Seems comparable enough to me to my 360 controller.

Because rumble is a last generation feature.
