Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Power: Goodbye DS we love you!

Well we can expect these kind of articles all year, but quite honestly I never tought that Nintendo Power (Nintendo's official mag) woul be the first one.

NP’s loving farewell to the DS.

With some 3DS news creeping into this issue – and the promise of some serious ink devoted to the device next month – it is obvious that the sun is setting on the venerable Nintendo DS. In case you just bought one (WTF?) or having a seriously lacking library, NP has a handy list of forty DS games you should check out. This is the mag’s Best Of DS in five categories.

MUST-HAVES: Phoenix Wright, Tetris DS, The World Ends With You, New Super Mario Bros, Bowser’s Inside Story, Mario Kart DS, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, and Elite Beat Agents

DSiWARE ESSENTIALS: Cave Story, Dark Void Zero, Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again, Mighty Flip Champs, Shantae: Risky’s Revenge

NEXT LEVEL: Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Super Scribblenauts, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, Contra 4, Chrono Trigger, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, GTA: Chinatown Wars, Kirby Super Star Ultra, Dragon Quest IX

DEEP CUTS: Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, Sonic Rush, Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Partners in Time, Warioware DIY, Rhythm Heaven, Phoenix Wright: Justice for All, Trauma Center 2, Pokemon Platinum, Mega Man ZX

Best gaming device for me, and it still has some gems left to come out.

some good suggestions

Goodbye DS, IMO you are the greatest platform ever created

It's a good list of games. Another future title for the DS is Inazuma Eleven, which just came out in Europe.

Sad panda indeed =/

Pokémon Black/White, Dragon Quest VI, Okamiden, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, Prof. Layton & the Specter's Flute, Inazuma Eleven, Radiant Historia, Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 and de Blob 2 are the big 2011 western releases.

Ninokuni, Soma Bringer, Sigma Harmonics, Blood of Bahamuth, SaGa 2, SaGa 3, Tales of Hearts, 7th Dragon, WiZmans World and that 2nd Fire Emblem remake are the possible future western releases.

There's still plenty of life in the current gen's best and most successful gaming system.

At least the 3DS is backwards compatible, so all is not lost.

Although, given the current state of the VC, I have little hope for the GB classics outside of Nintendo's own stable.

it's understandable. Covering the games on 3DS that are hitting the shelves soon would be enough to double the sizes of their mags.
