Forums - Gaming - Well, is it 3D vs 3G then?

Both are useless to me.

It's more like 3D VS HD

In that case Sony's already lost. They've already established that 3D > HD in their own TV pricing structures :P

i think it's more like 3D Vs proper handheld gaming.

Oh you're definitely going to have to explain that one

2 thumbsticks! 'nuff said.

so in your opinion, a second thumbstick is the determinant of 'proper'?  Going by this hypothesis, neither the SNES, N64, Dreamcast, DS or SEGA Mega Drive were 'proper' despite being among the greatest systems ever produced.  What do you think of the above platforms?  If they are not 'proper', what are they?

Also don't forget the touch screen found on the DS or 3DS make for a good (sometimes better) substitute for a second analogue stick., have you played MP Hunters?  The 3DS doesn't need a 2nd slide thingy to the same extent the NGP needed a 2nd thumbstick for this reason.

If you seriously hold that view, I feel sorry for you

I dont think the 3ds is going to be as big as the DS was and is. Ds is cheap and that is why so many parent have bought it. 3d is also something not everyone is going to be into. I believe its still going to sell pretty well and beat the NGP i just thing its going to be a closer race. Now NGP really depends on its price and games with 3ds we know what we will be getting from Ninty we dont know how sony is going to do with the NDS. I think is sony play their cards right and are prepared to lose some money they have a shot with this handheld.

LOL, don't be so serious :P i say proper handheld gaming because who wouldn't want to play their FPS/TPS and every game that requires a dual analog stick on a handheld? i can see the pattern with most of the consoles you mentioned... all those consoles besides the DS are older than the PS1, when the dual analog stick was implemented and changed the gaming industry since then.

still, what i said was a joke! i love the 3DS too, and i'm pretty sure the second touch screen will make a great substitute of the second analogue stick.

Just wondering if you played the FPS and TPS games on DS already?  It works like a mouse, I played the crap out of Metroid Prime Hunters, that in fact switched from first to third and back to first, though third person was only in morphball mode.  But the brothers in arms game on DS was a TPS, if they put more work into it, it would have been a must have DS game but they had the controls down.

Basically FPS games and Mario Kart is why I keep killing L buttons on my DS...

Correct but these added functions may influence the games. WHich would do so more? Which will be more popular?

What i don't get is looking at those amazing specs how it is ONLY 3G.

Its like saying the PS3 only accepts dial up.  Where the hell is 4G.  I know 4G isn't as wide spread yet, but still should be uses 4G if available and 3G if not.

Oh and not to mention how will LAG be when using 3G.  Looking up stuff on internet or youtube videos is one thing, but playing a game on 3G.  Call me skeptical, especially ps3 basically games.

Nothing uses 4G yet.

And again, games will not be played using 3G.

Herm... 4G mobile phones?

Also, games won't be played using 3G???? Of course they will, thats a selling point of the whole platform. Being online and playing online everywhere.
