Forums - Nintendo - do you love the hate nintendo gets?

My answer to that is no. It's not because I'm a fanboy or such, but for two reasons:

1. I don't see the humor factors in laughing at Nintendo hate. Some of these are definitely trolling trying to bring down the company, but most that I've seen comes from gamers who have extensive experience with the company and they're pretty serious about complaining to Nintendo. I also noticed that they tend to do this pretty often (Even I have started to do this, although this is due to me not being satisfied with the Wii's 2011 lineup and not getting a 3DS at launch). Some of the hate on Nintendo are also pretty legitimate, even if I do disagree with them.

2. They're a lot more serious about not supporting Nintendo then fans of other companies. I've noticed that with most other companies, people pledge to boycott them and not buy products from them anymore, they end up usually lying and don't make a dent in the sales that the video game companies make (Activision, Square Enix, and Capcom are three major examples and there are more). That's why it's hilarious to see those petitions like the Sonic The Hedgehog 4 petition, because they threaten to boycott the game for the stupidest reasons possible. That's not the case with Nintendo. We've already noticed a pretty significant decline in the core fan base during the Wii generation and a lot of dissatisfied Wii owners. We should also remember that Nintendo is held up to a higher standards then Sony or Microsoft, so any faults with the systems will be much more mercilessly picked out. The Nintendo fan base aren't stupid and I bet if they could gather up a gaming news-worthy group of gamers who are dissatisfied with Nintendo's recent action this gen to boycott Nintendo's next home console, I would not be surprise if Nintendo's sales next gen would not meet Nintendo's expectation (Although to be fair, the chances of this happening is unlikely so I'm not worried about it, just speculating). If Nintendo doesn't want to receive the huge amount of hate it's received this generation from it's core fan base, it's going to have to impressed on what it's already known for and learn a lot from it's competitors (Basically, it needs a SNES-quality console next gen to have a somewhat unified core fan base).

It's not sad to see so much Nintendo hate when it's legitimate, but I will say that they've been one heck of an interesting fan base to watch and I would be interested to see what we're going to see from them. So don't laugh if a well-known petition boycotting a Nintendo game occurs or a huge well-written petition boycotting the company altogether comes around, if they can unify together people who frequently criticize Nintendo to boycott the company, it's going to stands a much better chance of negatively impacting the company then other fan base will ever do.

Nintendo has been hated on since it made the NES since all the core and adult gamers were on their Apple 2 or the like playing their point and click adventure games... only kids played on consoles was the theme back then... boy how times haven't changed one bit

Well, on the internet it's funny.

IRL, it comes off as very immature and stupid.

Usually I find these things to be rather annoying from all sides. I like Nintendo's games and their systems, they just fit me well as I often play with friends and my girlfriend but I get why other people like other games. I hate it when people try to tell each other how stupid they are for owning a certain gaming system, though. It's just mind boggling, really. Someone bought a product and thus has to be stupid. I don't get that attitude.

What really got on my nerves, though, was the huge amount of actual missinformation regarding the 3DS. No eShop, bad online system, the battery life, the system causing sickness, etc. I was really thinking about not buying the system at all. And while I'm 90% sure there won't be any severe shortages at launch in Europe I would've possibly had to get the system later for more money (!) just because some people had fun spouting wrong information. It's the opposite of what happened when I bought my Macbook Pro when there were Apple fans all over the place praising their product over the top.

I think treating wrong information as facts just because you don't like a company (or like it too much for that matter) is where things get serious. It doesn't affect myself but there are people out there who are not a member of a gaming forum. And they just want to find some factual information about their potential purchase online and, frankly, gaming forums seem like a good place to get information about gaming hardware.

And people who need to spout missinformation just because they dislike the company behind a product should really get their head checked. Really.

Normally I wouldn't care about the hate any company gets but in this case it annoys me because it clearly has an effect on developers and publishers, and what developers and publishers think affects what games I get on my console of choice.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

All hate is funny on the internet. I find it amusing, therefore I love it :p

I love it when it's completely irrational, because then it's easy to laugh at it. But most of the time it's just annoying, because the person who criticizes Nintendo is building his/her argument on the fake basis that he/she is a Nintendo fan or an openminded gamer.

What's sad is when you build up a fake image of yourself in order to be vocal about things that don't really interest you in the first place. This generation is full of fake Nintendo fans who want to advise Nintendo on what is best for them and their fans. There are more of these fake people than ever before and why is that?

Because Nintendo is successful.

This is what I love about VGChartz. I've done it many times. A gamer comes on this forum and says they are a Nintendo fan fed up with Nintendo. They talk about how they loved Nintendo and lost faith. I do a quick profile check to see what Nintendo consoles and games they play. The majority of the time I notice that the gamer doesn't own anything Nintendo. I can then approach them in the thread and call them out (Which I have done) or just write them off as yet another MS or Sony fanboy.

Yah, Amiga and Commodor were where its at. Adults used computers and kids used consoles. Though I think Nintendo really got hated during the N64 time period. Because of high cartridge costs and lack of mature games. Fanboys ripped on Nintendo for everything they did, Nintendo could never do anything right. I remember when a prominant 1UP employee called the GameCube a childrens toy, man I was pissed.

i dont know why but recently ive been hearing a lot of comments like this which are completely baseless.

if you actually look, critics and gamers alike are rating wii games much higher than what you would refer to as "hardcore" games like call of duty (when the real hardcore know its an average fps (still fun in a way though)). I believe wii has some of the highest rated games ever.

you honestly cant be putting metroid on the same level as uncharted or goldeneye on the same level as killzone. if you could, i dont think developers would spend the time and money developing their game engines to the extent they have done and instead just make ok looking sd games and just focus on a few platforming elements.

what im saying is that both games exist, casual and hardcore. you cant deny the fact that casuals dont play games like killzone but a large proportion of the wii userbase are casuals and the games are marketed towards them. its just a fact that hardcore games will contain more physics and in most occassions better graphics than casual games.

this is a neverending debate but thats my perspective of it anyway....

edit: oh and why do you make it sound like the wii is singled out? everyone very well knows all consoles face hate and so does PC gaming.

e.g. xbox, RROD, HD-DVD fail, casual kinect

ps3 - 'ps3 has no games', '$600 LOL', 'XBL>PSN',

pc - piracy, no exclusives, starcraft is same old thing, 'wow nerds'

you get the point.....
