Yes it would have an impact, but it won't destroy everything in its wake. The options are too limited, can't really select one. 

I doubt it.  It's not like the library is THAT spectacular yet.  We don't even know when the Nintendo games are coming out right? We all know those are the only ones that matter  ;)

Nah. It should only effect handhelds. Home consoles will probably remain the same.

Just because the hour it was announced it went from nothing to first in Amazon.com until it will release and then it will still be up there for a long time doesn't mean anything. Home consoles won't be affected.

No, in fact I think it will do quite the opposite. Casuals (that is, the grandmas and babies who comprise the Nintendo audience) will be exposed to real games like Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid for the first time with the 3DS. Then they will run out to the store and upgrade to a PS3.

Only a slight one at first, I would guess.

But japanese developers are already switching heavily to the 3DS it seems and western developers should put more resources into handheld games again compared to 2009 / 2010. Even more so when the PSP2 is released.

So in the long run (starting around Christmas) we should see less (japanese) games on home consoles and older handhelds.

I think it will boost Wii sales have an effect on Move/Kinect
