Piracy is big in spain. So even though 360 sells a lot less games, that doesn't meant its a lot less played. They are probably played as much on average, but the PS3 has a healthy lead too, which increases sales (but not by 400%).

GT5 sold nearly 8% of its 2010 EU sales in Spain. Applying the same percentage to the EU sales of God of War III has Spanish sales at around 94k vs the 147k mentioned here.

I remember way back when their was some Spanish guy who claimed nobody had ever even heard of the Wii.

BIU Sales Award: FIFA 11 erfolgreichstes Spiel in 2010, Weihnachtsgeschäft beschert 17 BIU-Sales Awards im Dezember

Berlin, 20. Januar 2011. Mehr als 50 Games-Titel wurden in 2010 vom Bundesverband Interaktive Unterhaltungssoftware e.V. (BIU) mit einem oder mehreren BIU Sales Awards ausgezeichnet*. Der Award honoriert besonders verkaufsstarke Spiele im Bereich interaktiver Unterhaltungssoftware in Deutschland auf Basis der Abverkaufszahlen von media control GfK INTERNATIONAL GmbH. Der Gold Award für mehr als 100.000 verkaufte Spiele auf einer Gaming-Plattform wurde insgesamt 72 Mal verliehen, 34 Mal wurde das Platin-Level für mehr als 200.000 verkaufte Spiele erreicht. Insgesamt 10 Spiele schafften es auf mehr als 500.000 verkaufte Exemplare, davon 4 plattformübergreifend (BIU Multiplattform Award), 6 auf einer Gaming-Plattform (BIU Sonderpreis). Absoluter Spitzenreiter in 2010 war FIFA 11 von Electronic Arts (EA). Der Fußballhit knackte im Dezember plattformübergreifend die 1-Million-Marke und sicherte sich damit den Titel des bestverkauften Spiels des letzten Jahres.

Im Dezember wurden insgesamt 17 BIU Sales Awards verleihen. Einen Multiplattform-Award für mehr als 500.000 verkaufte Spiele sowie einen Gold-Award für 100.000 Xbox-Spiele erhielt Call of Duty: Black Ops von Activision Blizzard. Einen weiteren Hit landete das Unternehmen mit World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Das Online-Rollenspiel für den PC erreichte aus dem Stand den Platin-Status, ebenso wie der Rennsimulator Gran Turismo 5 von Sony Computer Entertainment (PlayStation 3) und Assassins Creed: Brotherhood von Ubisoft (PlayStation 3). Für die Nintendo-Plattformen erreichten im Dezember insgesamt 5 Spiele die erforderlichen Award-Grenzen. Je einen Platin-Award gab es für Wii Party (Nintendo Wii) und Professor Layton und die verlorene Zukunft (Nintendo DS). Gold erreichten die Nintendo-DS-Spiele Art Academy und Dragon Quest IX: Hüter des Himmels, sowie auch das Ubisoft-Spiel Just Dance 2 für Nintendo Wii.

Weitere Gold-Awards für die PlayStation 3 holten Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (EA), Mafia 2 (2K) sowie Sports Champions von Sony Computer Entertainment. Mit Halo Reach sicherte sich Microsoft Gold für sein Xbox-Spiel. EA konnte neben dem Meistertitel zwei weitere Gold-Awards einfahren: für das PC-Spiel Der Fußballmanager 2011 sowie für FIFA 11 (PlayStation 2).

Der BIU Sales Award honoriert seit 2008 besonders verkaufsstarke Spieletitel (Vollpreisversionen) im Bereich interaktiver Unterhaltungssoftware in Deutschland. Grundlage des Preises bilden die von media control GfK INTERNATIONAL GmbH erhobenen Abverkaufszahlen von Spiele-Datenträgern. Der Award wird pro Gaming-Plattform vergeben: Für den BIU Gold Award müssen mindestens 100.000, für den BIU Platin Award mindestens 200.000 und für einen BIU Sonderpreis mindestens 500.000 Spiele im deutschen Markt abgesetzt worden sein. Darüber hinaus werden Spiele, die insgesamt 500.000 verkaufte Exemplare auf unterschiedlichen Plattformen erreichen, mit dem „BIU Multiplattform Award“ ausgezeichnet.

* Je nach Erfolg auf den einzelnen Plattformen kann ein Spiel mehrfach ausgezeichnet werden.
