Forums - Nintendo - The 3DS is missing one key thing

I think gamers who play for the achievements are doing it wrong.

Funny, you would think the ones that judge how others enjoy their gaming experience are the ones doing it wrong.

Everyone who says that Achievements are just for measuring e-penis have never had the satisfying experience of one popping up unexpectedly and the tingling warm feeling it brings inside.

This describes me perfectly, yes.

Create a save file on Soul Calibur IV, now that is an unexpected achievement. You can imagine how disappointed I was when I didn't get a "You found the options menu" achievement.

I like the sound that a trophy makes when I get it. thats about it. I dont think 3DS really needs one. Ninty needs to make a decent online first then worry about the superficial stuff

I've never cared about them myself and never got into them, but I can imagine for some people they can be quite a bonus

Achievements are completely worthless, certainly not a key feature. They're more of an annoyance in games nowadays. If they could unlock free-content and VC titles, that would be a completely different story though.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I don't care about Achievements, but 3DS is missing a key thing imo...downloadable demos, no one at Nintendo has talked about those yet, Am I right? Since 3DS games are going to be quite expensive, for me it's very important to try new games before buying, the lack of demos is still one my biggest issues with Wii and DS.

DS has demos, you just need a Wii to access retail DS demos over the internet

With all this internal memory, i would bet on 3DS having it, but as i've mentioned (and made a thread on), Nintendo hasn't said a thing about the system's online features or online shop yet

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Twes, you are missing one important factor here, Nintendo is doing something that MS or SONY should have done from the begining, the coin system. The reason why I never cared for achievements or trophies is due to the fact that it really reaps you no rewards, some internet e-peen matters very little to me because those numbers don't translate into dollar bills in my pocket. What Nintendo is doing is what I wanted from the start, where as you play, you gain actual ingame rewards not limited to one game, which is a much more attractive option to me.
