No he said 50 Million sold.  The hasnt been disclosed nor has this been told is shipped or sold number.  MS is still putting together thier financials and reporting for the quarter they probably dont even know yet how many were sold and maybe not even number of shipped units when they put the slide deck together.  Yet it is safe to assume that they new the number was north of 50 million so they said 50 million consoles sold. Just like last year when Nintendo said more than 3 million Wii sold and that turned out to be 3.8 million.

@thx  Those figures are wrong

YOY:

Wii down 58k (-14%)

PS3 up 34k ( 12%)

360 up 101k ( 62%)   wow.

I know you will disagree, but I think the most impressive number there is actually the PS3 number despite being "only" 12% up.

Being UP YoY after everything it had last year, and what it's got against this year... Is astonishing IMO.

Not to downplay the 360's increase. No way. It's huge and well deserved, but I personally find the PS3 increase  a bigger surprise. Will be interesting to see if both will continue to be up YoY throughout the rest of 2011.

I know PS3 has a crowded line up of games during the first few Months of 2011, and with the early 2010 shortages it could possibly put a pretty decent lead n last years figures.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the 360, or Kinect itself got an early pricecut within the first half of the year. Not had a Pricecut since 2011, and cutting early would probably avoid any major battles in the 2nd half with both Nintendo AND Sony both cutting prices. Maybe a Kinect cut in the 1st half (May/June), and an official 360 cut in the 2nd half (September)?

Did you see it on any other charts?
Goldeneye went up in the UK as well, but went down from 74k to 56k.
Look how DK completely disappeared in the UK (possible issues), but it's topping charts in other places.

A game might be doing well in one country, but not so hot in others. It happens.

These drops give me the impression that despite the holidays, PS3 might be winning in worldwide HW sales for a major part of this year, or at least early on in it. EMEAA & Japan are the Golden Geese so  to speak..

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Where did the PAL charts say Goldeneye unit sales increased? Not moved up the charts that is different. In the text below Kinect Sports dropped 13% in UK, but it moved up the charts.

TOP 40 ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE - INDIVIDUAL FORMATS (UNITS), WEEK ENDING 1 January 2011

‘FIFA 11’ (-39%) shoots down ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops’ (-45%) in the last week of the year, denying Activision-Blizzard a 7th week at No1. However, six weeks at No1 is still the most for any game in 2010.

It was a different story in 2009 for ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ which stayed at No1 for the 8 weeks from launch until the end of the year, while ‘Black Ops’ has been usurped twice, by ‘Gran Turismo 5’ in W47 and now ‘FIFA 11’.  There is no change in the next 3 places as ‘Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit’ (-26%), ‘Just Dance 2’ (-33%) and ‘Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’ (-34%) are all non-movers at No’s 3, 4 and 5 respectively.  It is the first time two or more Kinect titles have broken into the Top 10 as ‘Kinect Sports’ (-13%) moves up 2 places to No6, joined in the Top 10 by ‘Dance Central’ ( 21%) which bounces up 9 places from No19 to No10.  Previous chart toppers ‘Gran Turismo 5’ (-40%), ‘The Sims 3’ (-21%) and ‘Fallout: New Vegas’ (-27%) all end the year in the Top 10 at No’s 7, 8 and 9 respectively.
