GT5 got 2nd shipment even in Japan. 5.5 million is must likely sold or they just repeated early number. Anyway in couple of weeks we should get official numbers.

They "shipped" (claiming sold) 5.5M. They wouldn't say "sold" again (meaning shipped in actuality), unless it actually sold that amount to the consumer. Or has GT5 sold 0 copies in the last month?

If we do have it undertracked here on this site,I bet most of the numbers that are off are from that damn Christmas week, when GT5 decreased...>__>...That is the only week when ''something didn't seem right'',to me at least.

CGI-Quality said: This is where my confusion lies. They reiterate the 5.5 million sold number. In it's first two weeks, it shipped 5.52mill copies. Seems to make sense that it's sold through that shipment by now, right? VGC has it at 4.89 mill currently, but I could see an adjustment here soon, even if it's just to like 5.2mill copies. |
There's no confusion, they're most likely just repeating the previously made public figure. Kaz didn't give any timetable or clarification, didn't cite any source (if it's indeed sold through), so the most likely course is just a regurgitated number.
*sigh*
All they did was repeat that they shipped 5.5m in the first 12 days.

Thank you, I am very tired of having to listen to this stuff again

About 300k UNDERTRACKEDZ!
More reason why I take numbers with a grain of Salt from VGC. While it tends to be fairly decent at tracking numbers, it doesn't get hard sales data directly from every retailer out there and there will always be adjustments made on everything.
Myself, I bought GT5 last week, and I had to run to 3 different stores before I finally found one that had 1 in stock (got the last one at Target that day). I would find it difficult to believe that there wasn't any shipments after the initial ones within the first couple weeks of release if Sony claimed that 5.5 million was shipped/sold back then. 4 weeks later and they state 5.5 million sold seems to be likely and it's not out of the realm of possibility either that a big adjustment of 10% is forthcoming from VGC.
I would have a feeling that a company that makes the game should have an accurate gauge on how well it sold. It's not like ET from the 80's.
My pokemon brings all the nerds to the yard. And they're like, "You wanna trade cards?" Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I'll trade this, but not my charizard.
