Forums - Sales - PS3/Wii/360 Tie Ratios ("attach rates") from NPD

I've not noticed anybody pointing out that the average PS3 and 360 has been owned significantly longer than the average Wii, obviously the longer a system is owned the more games it will accumulate therefore it is not a fair comparison.

I totally agree with you on the 360 part but WTF were you smo^H^H^Hthinking ;) when you included the Ps3 in there?

I would maybe understand if we were talking about Japan as it came out about a month earlier (though I still wouldn't call that significant) but in America the 2 days difference between launch is insignificant.

Random side note, but did you know the last time Nintendo reported VC sales (October 10th) they had sold 7.8 million VC games. Assuming they are selling at a fairly equal rate over the last 2 months, they would be at over 9 million now.

Take this in comparison to Microsoft's last reported XBLA downloads which INCLUDED all free content at 35 million (reported 25 million in March. This is an estimate), and it's very likely that Nintendo has already SOLD more Virtual Console content than Microsoft has Xbox Live Arcade content. If they are selling old games at that rate, think of how huge Wii Ware will be....

?????????????????????...........?????????

wtf how can 9 million be greater then 35m?

What math system are you using?

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

You don't think free content makes up at least 80% of XBLA downloads?  Free demos, trailers, etc?

Can we remove all games EVER bundled with the 360/PS3 so they're not included too?

I mean, if we're removing Wii Sports it's only fair.

And why do you think all bundled games are not excluded already?

Do you have any information indicating that only Wii Sports is excluded and other bundled games are not?

Did they mention that they removed Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Forza Motorsports 2? Because I didn't see that mentioned anywhere....

Yeah , the 360 has lots of bundled titles , so its not fair .

On the other hand : wow , the PS3 is doing much batter in software region than I was expecting :o

..........

/sigh

and Resistance, motorstorm, and dynasty warriors in japan were never bundled right?

I'm not sure but I think he was making a reference that VC has sold more content than live arcade, Because some of the content on LA is free. I don't know though

I said sold, so that you would understand I was only comparing the content that costs money, because Microsoft never separates that out. They just report the total downloads. If you want to say just a comparison of software sold I'm sure the number is strongly in Nintendo's favor.  Do you see my point? It's a very impressive showing for Virtual Console to have sold 9 million + old games in only a year on the market. I think people are seriously underestimating the impact that Wii Ware is going to have on the market. If Virtual Console can push so many games, imagine what new reasonably priced games from major developers can sell like?

possibly but we wont know, and for some reason i have doubts with those numbers. If people are constantly saying how strong XBLA downloaded content is, then why would they be saying that if nintendo is selling so much more?

A larger percentage of the PS3's have been in PS3 owners hands longer since a large number of PS3's were sold at launch and then it's sales tanked. While the Wii sales were great at launch, great after, and kept growing as they increased supply.
