The DS takes a big steaming crap all over your small numbers.'

Why, what is the DS tie ratio?

I've seen it before, it's around 4.5-5, so its not even close to beating the 360. Although it IS the highest attach ratio for a handheld system ever, by a fairly sizable margin, I believe.

4.5 says most recent numbers, but I think Frank may have been talking about the fact that the DS's 4.5 combined with its hardware sales craps all over everything. It will have more 10 million + sellers than any other system in history by the end of its life, and could very well be known as the most successful system in gaming history by the end of its life.

The second highest handheld attach rate was the original gameboy at 3.3 or something like that if I remember right. The PSP currently has the lowest attach rate of any game system in recorded sales history (including handhelds) at 1.9 WW.

Not too shabby for the Wii after 1 year. At this rate its moved more software in year 1 than the 360 did (with more systems of course). A great attach rate for the 360 but I think it's becoming clear that without spreading beyond the hardcore gamer dmeographic the 360 is not going to replicate the PS2's total sales in the US.

x360 has had longer on the market therefore you would expect a higher attach ratio. the difference is decreasing though.

I want wii fit and I want it now

Actually, the longer is a system is out, the attach rates usually go down. Its easier to have high attach rates with the less systems you sell. If you only sell 2 systems, you only have to sell 12 games, but with 14 million systems, you have to sell 84 million games.

You're mistaken.  Attach rate grows with the system's life, not shrinks.  This has been the case on every system in memorable history up to the last year or 2 of the consoles life.  At that point used game sales can hurt attach rate a lot (See: PS2).

Wii Play is not a game that comes with a controller. It's a controller that comes with a game.  (Only reason why i bought it!)  Maybe it should not be counted.

I would consider that a reasonable option if Wii Sports didn't come with the system. There are soooo many people that I've sold Wiis to that just buy the system and Wii Play, then wait and buy other games later on. My best friend was happy with this set up for months.

Basically they get home and have two games and two controllers to play it with. I've even been invited to a friends house to play Wii Sports when that (and Wii Play) were the only games he had -- apparently, though, we weren't playing anything, because he has an attach rate of 0.

That just isn't logical. I think counting one but not the other is a suitable compromise.

personally I have:
Xbox360: 14
Wii: 4, not counting sport and play

I bought both consoles in 2006

18 Wii games counting Wii Sports and Wii Play (Why shouldn't I count them? I play them...)

Seven for me now :p
