4.5 says most recent numbers, but I think Frank may have been talking about the fact that the DS's 4.5 combined with its hardware sales craps all over everything. It will have more 10 million + sellers than any other system in history by the end of its life, and could very well be known as the most successful system in gaming history by the end of its life.
The second highest handheld attach rate was the original gameboy at 3.3 or something like that if I remember right. The PSP currently has the lowest attach rate of any game system in recorded sales history (including handhelds) at 1.9 WW.
