Forums - Gaming - Is Microsoft lying to their customers about Playstation Network ?

Ok, so a few things:

  • 1) I don't believe.  No offense, I just don't.  There may be true pieces to the story, but then you either weren't listening or are leaving out information.
  • 2) If by some strange circumstance your story is true, don't a MS representative to tell you Sony policy, trust Sony to tell you Sony policy.
  • 3) If by some strange circumstance your story is true, it's probably just some guy, not MS telling them any insider info.

1. I have no reason to lie I just felt like I was lied to and I told you almost all the story or do you want to here every boring detail?

2.  Hey, I said I thought it was bullshit for a reason I just thought it would be dishonorable if Microsoft had some sort of company policy to lie to customers. The call was recorded so if this man was breaking company policy than they would know if they actually check their calls.

To add more to the story since you doubt me we also joked about my other gold account being "drunckaccount" so I could play COD drunk without ruining my stats. Look I have no reason or motivation to make up stories I just thought I could make an interesting thread out of an event that involved the companies so many of us care for.

3. I know this.

Around the Network

When I cancelled my live account just over a week ago for the reason of just trying it out for Netflix and telling them that I can have Netflix on PSN  and no extra fee to watch in it.  They cancelled mine in about 10 mins explaining my boring reason to someone from the other side of the world without any more issue. Have fun with live while you can.

If Sony start charging for PSN they kind of killed the PS3, no way i'll pay o play online, I'll just go back to PC, if Sony are not real stupid then they won't do it. And I guess they'll never.

I'm not sure I'd subscribe either. While I wouldn't declare "I'll only game on PC" SCE would have to give me more reason to subscribe other than to receive the same service I've been using sporadically for the past four years.

I suppose PSN Plus in addition to overall improvements to the service would be fair, but most probably just want basic online play. As unusual as it may sound (since it's so fashionable to dog Home), if they made Home a part of PSN Plus, that would probably be the tipping point in my decision to subscribe

Nah by "I'll go back to PC gaming" I mean that I don't want to bother subscribing to something to play online. I don't have much time to play on PS3,  I had 6 months without turning my PS3 on, or just one week end. And I don't want to be like "fuck I wasn't aware I could play this week end, should I suscribe for this month or bla bla bla", see what I'm saying? That's why I'll never suscribe to Live if I ever get a 360.

With PSN remaining free I can decide when I want to play, and when I don't, and also don't say myself "shit I paid 1 month and played 1 week" when I can't play much.

As simple as that.

Only way I'd play on PSN then would be if they let existing accounts stay free as a grandfather clause :p

Kaz Hirai said that PSN is going to be profitable in the next fiscal year which starts on April 1st, 2011. Based on that one could make the assumption that Sony is going to start charging for online play. It's not necessarily lying, could be just a guess that favors Microsoft, of course. After all, online play being free on PSN is the biggest advantage it has over Xbox Live.

Though, he said it would enter black because of the higher demand caused by more users. That doesnt completely rule out the possibility, but it is important information.

This is exactly one of my biggest reasons for sticking with the PS3 instead and dumping Live and the 360 altogether. There would be no way I'd even consider owning a 360 without Live. All of their exclusives have mainly strong multiplayer components, and weak offline components. Yes Gears of War has a great single player campaign, and of course you have Fable, but other then that who would pay $60 to just play a 3-6 hour Halo campaign and NOT go online afterwards.

Sorry for sounding like such a fanboy in my post here, but that is just my opinion on this whole Live vs PSN crap. The PSN is there for when I need and when I want it. I don't have to worry about making sure I get my $60 worth out of it if I don't play any game online for weeks or months at a time.

Dude i swear your a 360 fan fag. Havent you seen Sony's E3 Confrence last summer???  They clearly stated that PSN will forever be free to the public. Please stop your bullshit lies and get off Micro$oft's Dick. And yes PSN was in the red last year and sony has stated they have a lineup of games and content exclusively for PSN to turn that around this year. I highly suggest you do some research before you post and type bullshit in the threads. Microsoft ofcourse lied. They have been doing this for years. Its part of there business.

I third that with a GRASSHOPPER!

I'm surprised that a rep from M$ put down one of their competitors *rolls eyes*

Everytime a rep from M$ has an interview with any game journalist - mention of their competitors not being able to keep up, or not having nothing good compared to the 360's library of games etc etc etc comes up.. This is really one of my reasons for boycotting the 360. I don't want to be part of that type of *clique* as it seems the majority of 360 users have the same damn opinion.

Now before anyone flames me for just being a Sony fanboy - please listen. The 360 was my first "next-gen" console and I loved it. I'm familiar with Live, the exclusives etc, but after the problems that occurred with my consoles (3 rrod), the disappointments in wasting money on their exclusives (I absolutely hate Halo,) and wasting money on Live - I have no reason to stick up for the x360 and M$.

I've worked for call centres before, and the one thing you're not supposed to do is talk about competitors at all. It's really pathetic how it seems that every M$ fanboy is brain-washed. Trust me.. I have an aunt who works for M$ and her son can't even have a PS3.

DUDE, all companies do this. You can say the same about any console lover of a different kind.  Sony ps2 was horribly and flawed and failure rate was just as bad. So some of us that had to deal with that and then get told after three broken ps2's that they won't fix one is in the same boat. PS3 YLOD is a problem too. here's the deal though, it's not covered like M$. M$ atleast fixed the problem and put a billion where there mouth was.  More then sony can say, ps2 was  never warrantied like 360 and it had just as many problems.

SO I think you are really being biased and just chosen to not see what sony has done in the past and present.
