Forums - Nintendo - What Ubisoft should do with Just Dance 3

It is inevitable Ubisoft is going to release another Just Dance game as it is perhaps the most successful 3rd party franchise on Wii. Instead of making another lazy sequel with minor changes and different tracks I have a few suggestions that can keep the franchise fresh and even increase sales. 1) Bundle it with a motion cam tech. This is by far the most important change they could do. The game would benefit greatly with motion cam tech integration as it would enhance and expand gameplay possibilities. It doesn't even have to be as high tech as Kinect, it just needs to detect and capture your full body movements on screen. And if I were Nintendo I would be talking with Ubisoft about doing this to help keep the Kinect threat at minimium. 2) Online connectivity. Streamessly uploading your dance pics or videos to social networking and video sites such as Facebook and Youtube would be cool. A leaderboard would also be a good addition. 3) Creating your own choreography. This would be awesome especially if you can share it online with friends and strangers. Using the motion cam can help a great deal with choreography creation. 4) Use of Miis. This should take the least amount of resources from Ubisoft to put it its next game. 5) Option to use two Wii remotes and the option to use motion plus.

sounds like it should be on the PSMove since you mentioned motion camera wiimote also the facebook part. I think they should use a disc less update system instead of releasing a new one with minor changes. There isn't much you can do with it except increase the song selection and add more preference options. I'm guessing it will face the same problems as rockband or guitar hero.

What I want from a game.

Gameplay > Story > Content > Graphics

Visual Style > Graphics

Smooth Camera, Intuitive Controls

Friction! When everything feels right!

I'm sorry to say but JD2 is a highly improved since JD1.. improved controls (much tighter dan JD1), DLC, more modes and more features it's not a lazy sequel.. and no.. (1&3&5) why do you want the game to be harder... it's about having fun not about how good you can dance.. its choreography is hilarous.. Part of the fun of Just Dance 2 lies in the simplicity of its controls... there is a reason why dance games before didn't succeed.. (4) don't think the mii's can do such complex motions.. (2) hell no.. I already look like sexy dance machine while dancing.. no need for more stalkers..

I don't agree. My suggestion would be a) don't overmilk it and kill the golden goose and b) just pile on the content when you do release a sequel. One of the advantages of being a music game is that there's a tonne of popular content out there that you can use, pay for stuff people will enjoy and stick it all in there (while making sure to give enough attention to each piece).

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

You are my idol! Great suggestions!

@ OP I've played Just Dance 2 with my lady a bit recently and I have to say that the game's simplicity is what makes it fun. One remote, no unlockables, no online, and all that other jazz that you want. The single remote makes it simple enough for anyone to do it. I don't need to move my feet at a million miles an hour and nearly have a heart attack like DDR. What makes this game sell so well is that you do exactly what the game states in it's title. I realize that it's not a hardcore gamer's dream, but not all games have to be hardcore. Some games should be Just Fun. Don't fix what isn't broken.

The OP either want to sabotage Just Dance franchise or wanted it ported to PS3. Or both.

Before Just Dance 2 was released, the sequel was already being planned for the next holidays' (http://wii.nintendolife.com/news/2010/10/exclusive_just_dance_3_to_land_holiday_2011). And like it's been already stated by Nikkom, JD2 is already miles better than the barebones JD1, improved quality everywhere you look. But if you want more inspiration for a hardcore dancing game, look at We Cheer ;p

Ubisfot already released a full body tracking camera with Your Shape last year. They probably decided to skip supporting it in Just dance 2 because it requires a lot of space to track your entire body. With the success of Dance Central on Kinect we might see camera support added in JD3.

Com on guys! Do you really think the game aims to people who want their bodies tracked by a camera? People who buy this game is because they want to have fun, not being taught on how to dance perfectly. Even Dance Central can't do that (I have it and I enjoy it, but as a solo experience).

The fact that you only use your Wiimote is very attractive. Menus are easy to understand and you can start dancing in less than 10 seconds (Dance Central is painfuly slow when it comes to menus and loading times between one dance and another). You can be a terrible dancer and still have fun, even little children can play.

The game formula is perfect, and I think they will continue with this formula for Just Dance 3. What I would add is some minor fixes like being able to preview DLC songs (you can't listen to previews of DLC on JD2). Apart from that: online leaderboards, some kind of "send challenge" to your friends, where they have to beat your score, Facebook/Twitter integration to publish socres and achievements (I.E. get 10000 points in every song, burn X calories, etc), and if they really want to compete against Dance Central, QUARTETS :)

Also, as new Game modes, I'd really enjoy a mode where music speeds up and slows down in certain parts, could be fun!

I really don't mind if the game has online multiplayer since the funny part is watching your friends / family playing, that's when you get the best of it. After all, that's one of the mains goals of the game, join people and have fun.

My point of view :) Cheers
