Forums - Sales Discussion - Media Create Sales: Week 51, 2010 (Dec 20 - Dec 26)

Probably the latter half of Q1, sometime in February or March, depending on it's lineup.  It's awful right now, but it'll fill out some (ex: Earth Seeker is Q1 but needs a date, Inazuma Eleven Strikers might make it too, Rhythm Heaven surprise, localizations for Epic Mickey or Goldeneye, etc) and it's arguably already better than Q1 2010 was (which really only had Biohazard DSC and Reginliev to drum up any interest, lol).

Comparing the home consoles current Q1 lineups... games that could clear 100k are bolded...

No "Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisou" love? I am pretty sure that it's kinda big in Japan. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

And since when Killzone 3 become multi plat and Sony publishing it on the 360? ROFLMAO!!!

Around the Network

I would find it absolutely mindboggling if the Wii only had ONE game release in the whole month of March over there.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

GOOOOOOO DS, it has a tiny tiny tiny tiny shot of outselling psp for 2010, you can do it!!

Haruhi used to be big, but that was like 2 years ago.  There's been multiple games for the IP in multiple genres across PS2, DS, PSP and Wii, but only one ever sold over 100k iirc (and barely at that).  The PSP version has an extremely slim chance of doing it, but there's pretty much no way the PS3 game is going to move over 100k, especially with the fairly recent high profile bombing of Umineko no Naku Koro ni (which resulted in Alchemist's crazy CEO going on another bitter rampage / PR nightmare and claiming MHP3 was "stealing" all the software sales from PS3 and PSP owners).

And whoops on KZ360!  I admit I copy/pasted a lot to formulate those 360 and PS3 lineups, but in my defense that's what 3rd parties seemingly do to. :P

It will be interesting to see PS3 and Wii sales after Christmas, I know Wii sells a lot during holidays, but GT5 has passed and there's just one PS3 game in top 30...will the Wii really return to be outsold by PS3?

It takes some time for the holiday effect to totally die, but If there will be long periods in Japan where PS3 keeps getting games while Wii doesn't, then probably yes. That is the reason it eventually happened this year (that and Torne).

I can't remember, are there big PS3 IPs for Japan in 2011? I think January is for Wii, The Last Story will prevent a big drop off.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

PSP is the number 1 handheld ( console whatever ) in Japan this year.

PSP YTD=  2.798.638

NDS YTD= 2.772.043

Only by Media Create; Famitsu and Dengeki both have DS ahead by over 100k.  And there's one more week for the year, so DS may actually nab the top spot in MC too.

Yakuza at the end and ni No kuni or just look at Jarrod's list.

Well we are in Media create's sales thread aren't we?

For PS3 and Wii games scheduled for 2011 and beyond that I think could sell 300k plus... using english titles here...

PlayStation 3

  • DmC: Devil May Cry (Capcom)
  • Dynasty Warriors 7 (Tecmo Koei)
  • Final Fantasy Versus XIII (Square Enix) 1m plus
  • Metal Gear Solid Rising (Konami) 500k plus
  • Ninokuni: The White Queen of Sacred Ash (Level 5) 500k plus
  • Samurai Warriors 3 Z (Tecmo Koei)
  • Tales of Xillia (Namco)
  • The Last Guardian (SCE)
  • Yakuza: The End (SEGA) 500k plus

Wii

  • Dragon Quest X (Square Enix) 3.5m plus
  • Inazuma Eleven Strikers (Level 5)
  • Michael Jackson: The Experience (Ubisoft)
  • The Last Story (Nintendo)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Nintendo) 500k plus
  • Rhythm Heaven Wii (Nintendo) 500k plus

Actually I don't think the PS3 version of Ni No Kuni will be able to reach 500k, the DS one sold just 350k during holidays and DS has a much bigger userbase, but maybe this is an advantage for PS3, the game could push more systems, which is what I'm wondering about. Anyway looks to me like both Wii and PS3 will end up selling about the same, just some bundles or price cuts could give one a big advantage over the other IMHO.
