Fact: I already have more games than I can play.

I'm probably trying to finish about ten different games, right now.  Maybe I should just save my money BUT my sister gave me a Gamestop gift card worth the price of one free video game.  If they're still having a "Buy Two Get One Free Deal" like I saw online, I may just get three more.  Problem is, I don't know exactly what I want.  I'm kinda Luke Warm about all of these titles.  But here's  the arguement for each of them:

  • Vanquish:  A game I was really hyped for until I found out it was really short.  I did enjoy Enslaved despite its short length so I think I'll get my money's worth out of Vanquish.  Plus, the short length means I may actually finish it.  And for the low, low price of FREE, I won't feel ripped off.
  • Star Ocean:  The Last Hope:  Soriku made a thread about some JRPG that made me REALLY want a new JRPG.  I did some research, and despite the awesome reviews for Tales of Vesperia, the JRPG women wern't hot enough.  Star Ocean Internationla wins out.  Problem is, when I play a JRPG and get into it, I don't play anything else.  Should I commit to that right now?  PS3 version is only $17 and offers more content than the 360 version.  Anybody play Folklore or White Knight Chronicles?  I was debating them, too.
  • Castlevania Lords of Shadow:  A game I really wanted to see succeed.  Is the story good?  I already know the production values are great.  I didn't really like the demo but then again, I didn't like the God of War 3 demo and I wound up loving that game (and I STILL need to finish GoW3--just got all three games in the series a few weeks ago).  Is it worthy of purchase?
  • Red Dead Redemption:  I didn't really enjoy Grand Theft Auto 4.  Did Rockstar regain their mojo?  I've read reviews and this game looks like the second coming--but I just can't muster any excitement for it.  Maybe that will change if I actually played it.  I really liked GUN on the PS2 and this looks like an improved version of that game.  Anybody?
  •  New Super Mario Bros. :  Got this game on day one and my kid lost it (after I completed 100% of the objectives, too!).  Should I just stick with the sure thing or try something new?  We did just buy a brand new DSi.  It would be ashamed if it didn't get to taste greatness......
  •  Donkey Kong Country Returns:  Another game that I know I should Really want but I'm just not as excited as I should be.  Is it as frustrating as they say?  It lacks sexy women (which is a plus in any of these games).  I've played and beaten every other Donkey Kong.  How does this stack up?

Or should I just save my card for some of the PS3 exclusives coming out in 2011?  There are too many great games coming out in 2011 for the PS3.  *Shakes fist* Curse you Sony for making us buy so many great games!  We're all gonna go broke buying all of these great games!!

I hate being "that guy" that can't pick out his own games.  I just can't decide.  Maybe I'll get three if Gamestop or somebody has a deal going on.  And whatever I get, I'm getting in the next six hours.

Well, personally, I'd go for DK (since I'm a blind nintendo fan) it'll give you a lot of value and you can play with your children I guess.

Dunno, maybe get nsmbds later, I'd personally wouldn't buy it a second time.

Edit: Why bother? It's clear RDR will win in the poll

I'm horrified that you haven't yet played RDR! But I'm gonna vote for Vanquish here, since I just played it myself and am pretty high on it. It seriously may be the best shooter I've ever played. Yeah, it is short, but it's the sort of game that I wanted to replay right after I finished it, so that wasn't a problem.

i'm playing star ocean right now and it's better than the old ones, i cant stand the old ones but i'm happy i took a chance and got this one. not the best rpg ever but i like it.

Folklore i only tried the demo. wkc i liked a lot but you might want to wait for the wkc2 to come out if it will come out with the 1st revised like in japan. lots of people didnt like wkc but i really enjoyed it.

cant say much for the other games, DKCR looks pretty good though.

Star Ocean 4 is terrible, its dialogue and story make Star Wars prequels look like Shakespeare (I am not even joking). You owe it to yourself to get Tales Of Vesperia if its available, its only one of 3 good console JRPG's this generation.

Vanquish is a rental. Otherwise Donkey Kong Country Returns is the best game on your list.

It should easily come down to Vanquish or Castlevania.

You should also buy Nier for the hell of it, it is only $12.99 used for PS/360 at Gamestop. Sometimes even $15 new.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

You know, I considered Nier.  Then, I found out that the hot girl in the game was a man.  WTF!?

Could the 2nd game be a reserve title?  I've never played any of those...  But, I'd say go with the most expensive game.

I've never played RDR either, and I just plain old didn't care for the vanquish demo... It felt lacking... like, it was missing something...  I guess Uncharted 2 really spoils you...

You should go for either DK or Mario, they're both awesome. DK, despite not taking long to beat the final boss, has a LOT of replay value. I have it for more than 1 months and still haven't finished it 200%. After that I want to to star another file as well.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Donkey Kong of course!
