Forums - Sony - PS3 owners, how did you feel about the ME2 demo?

I tried the PS3 demo and I liked it, but I still thought ME2 was overhyped. The demo is great and all but when you actually play the game it gets too repetitive, too many recruitment missions and then loyalty missions, the good thing is that the environments look great. Each and every character has a different personality(which is great) and the combat is cool as well. However I did feel like I was playing gears of war on the 360 because of the exact same engine and cover system. The lack of variety in missions doesn't help either.

The PS3 version is much sharper than the 360 version. The PS3 controls are great as well. It's very responsive to explosions, hit-taking, firing and reloads.  January cannot come soon enough. I cannot believe my 360 had to die on me while playing this game of all games!

Damndest thing!  My 360 died on me when I got this game, too.  The disc drive quit working.  It also died in 2007 when I got ME1, Super Mario Galaxy (not for 360, of course) and Assassins Creed on the same day!!  Maybe I better stay away from Mass Effect games.......nah!  That's a chance I'm willing to take.

My PS3 has treated me well. I have the new one so I doubt much will happen. Very good quality piece of hardware. Dont count out the bad from happening though. lol

I did not like the original Mass Effect enough, it was seriously bugged and got repetitive/boring after a while for me.

I however did download the same Mass Effect 2 demo for my new Windows7 PC and it left me completely cold.

I haven't had the time to complete the demo, but on the PS3 it felt a lot better for me. I guess this has mainly to do with more comfortable wireless gamepad controls vs keyboard/mouse I was using, connected to big ass HDTV vs much smaller PC monitor and I have my PS3 connected to a great surround audio setup. That makes a huge difference for me! I liked it.

It felt better than I expected and I look forward to finish the demo tonight when I get home, although I don't think I will turn into a fan of the series, a far cry from my anticipation for games such as LittleBigPlanet 2, Killzone 3 and Uncharted 3.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

i hated it

i was really looking forward to it but didnt like anything about it, i dont know what happend :/

the only good thing i can say is that i will be able to knock one game off my list for jan-march and save some money

I sorta expected some people to hate it......While it's one of my favorite games of 2010 (probably in the top 3), I could see how some people could be turned off by the game.  Not enough a shooter for shooter fans--too much of a shooter for RPG fans.  Oh well.  To each, his own.

yeh 100% its clearly not a crap game, it has alot of fans. but im not Mad on shoooters and im not mad about RPG's, so combining the 2 made a game i really didnt like aha

I played the x360 demo and I loved it. I love games where you can get deep into the story. I think I spent over two hours just reading through the character bios, species origin, etc. I think I spent too much time creating my character though.

The shooting was okay not the best.

So happy that this coming to Ps3, wish we got ME 1 though. I'm not downloading the Ps3 demo, because I already know I'm getting it.

I was going to post a thread about this and saw this so I'll post it here.

I have 3 Acronyms to say about the ME2 Demo.

OMFG ME2 FTW!!!

First off it's probably the best detailed and best made demo. Perfect demo for all new comers to the ME series on PS3.

The gameplay is so much more solid than ME1. The gunplay to all the different class abilities are really great and plays out well. ME2's graphics are only second to Gears of War games as the best looking Unreal Engine Games. I was correct in saying that ME2 is definitely the most impressive looking 2010 X360 game.

For the record, I played ME1 on PC but skipped ME2 on PC due to time and PC contraints. Plus to be able to play ME2 on console PS3 is just too good and when the PS3 version does come out, it contains all the DLC along with the Cerbersus network Card which will definitely come in handy.

Voice Acting. Second Most Impressive Voice Acting I've heard this year behind RDR. I'm more of a fan of Jennifer Hale's Female Commander Shepard's voice than the male Shepard voice and so I'm going to make a female Shepard for ME2 (I was going to regardless of VA and I did make a Female Shepard in ME1). Not only is Shepard's VA good but all the characters have excellent VA and really helps players engage more with the characters and story.

The setting of ME2 is just soo good. I love Sci Fi everything and ME2 really does capture the essence of Sci Fi and BioWare has really don a great job in making ME2 a really immersive Sci Fi Game and overall making ME a top notch Sci Fi Game.

You know no wonder ME2 has been getting universal praise as well as racking up GOTY awards. It's just that good!

I'm planning to get around 3 playthroughs of ME2, 2 with Female Shepards and the other with Main Face Male Shepard, all with different classes. I have Sentinel, Vanguard and Soldier Classes in mind so far.

I seriously cannot wait to play ME2 on PS3 and I regret now not being able to play ME2 on PC eariler and so I plan to also get it on PC sometime next year but PS3 is where it's at for me.

yep ^^ i have it for PC already so im not gona get it again though XD

Yeah i know my spelling sucks but im dysgraphic so live with it :3

Conegamer - I say that the PS3 will beat the DS next week in Japan  (for hardware sales) Forfeit is control over others avatar for 1 week.

Anyone notice how similar the soundtrack sounds to the soundtrack from Tron?

I won't buy it unless they release Mass Effect too.

Did Mass Effect 2 underperform on Xbox 360 or PC? I feel that the announcement of a PS3 version was too rushed and unexpected, we know EA needs money after its horrible financial results. It will be interesting to see how well or bad it sells, especially Mass Effect 3.

I don't think either game underperformed.  I suspected this as soon as EA bought Bioware.  They've been hurting for a hit and Mass Effect was just too much of a sure thing to keep it tied to one console.  I think my exact words were "I don't see a scenario where Mass Effect 2 COULD remain exclusive." or something like that.  It's the EA way.

Well it looks like you wont be buying it cause they arent ever gonna release the first one on ps3... Cause microsoft studios owns the rights to it... Thats why in the demo they have the story at the begginning about how you got to where your at in the 2nd one.... Its actually pretty kewl.....

And i wouldnt say it underperformed on 360, now pc yes i believe it did.... But its a money game these days... It will be successful on ps3...
