Forums - Nintendo - IGN article shows Nintendo is the king of re-releases!

Is this not like a company re-releasing a movie on U-matic, Beta, VHS, LaserDisc, DVD, UMD, BRD, and Digital Download.

Or are people supposed to keep things only in one format?

And how many of the NES versions were pack-in changes?

And no other company does this?

People say there is not an anti-Nintendo bias in some places ...

You can't spell IGNorant without IGN!

Anyway, ign are just a bunch of microsoft fanboys.

I bet that if it had to do something with microsoft, they'd say: "don't like it, then don't buy it" Just like the ms fans defend M$.

Sorry for bad English.

Okay skimmed through the whole article, and it's worse than I thought.  He starts complaining about the Famicom originals that got re-released on the GBA, and he includes all the games that weren't made by Nintendo, like Castlevania, Bomberman, Pac-Man, and Xevious.

Then he somehow calls Twilight Princess a remake of a GameCube game, that came out before the GameCube version!

Well, TP was supposed to be a GameCube exlucive in 2004, I remember that they even said that they promised it was to be a GameCube exclusive and then Nintendo ported(or remade) it to the wii with motion controls.

Anyway, ign is just a bunch of ignorants.

Sorry for bad English.

"Yeah, I missed Dragon Quest--so chalk that up with Final Fantasy and the couple times Chrono Trigger has been released.  That's still way less than Super Mario Bros appearing on no fewer than four Nintendo systems."

Wrong. Final Fantasy I appeared on the NES, PS1, GBA, Wonderswan Color, PSP, and Wii VC at the very least. So that one game is greater than SMB1. So don't tell me that all of S-E's re-releases are less than just SMB1.

Mobile as well. I can buy it on the blackberry.

So S-E games and the releases I can confirm:

FF1: NES, MSX2, PS1, Wonderswan Color, GBA, PSP, Wii VC, Mobile, iPhone

FF2: NES, PS1, Wonderswan Color, GBA, PSP, Wii VC, Mobile, iPhone

FF3: NES, DS, Wii VC

FF4: SNES, PS1, Wonderswan Color, FOMA, GBA, DS, Wii VC, PSP

FF5: SNES, PS1, GBA

FF6: SNES, PS1, GBA

FF7: PS1, PC, PSN

FF8: PS1, PC, PSN

FF9: PS1, PSN

FF11: PC, PS2, 360

FF13: PS3, 360

DQ1: NES, MSX, NEC PC-9801, Sharp X68000, Super Famicom, GBC, Mobile

DQ2: NES, MSX, SFC, Super Famicom, GBC, Mobile

DQ3: NES, SNES, GBC, Mobile

DQ4: NES, PS1, DS

DQ5: Super Famicom, PS2, DS

DQ6: Super Famicom, DS

Secret of Mana: SNES, FOMA, Wii VC, iPhone

Chrono Trigger: SNES, PS1, DS

FF Tactics: PS1, PSN

Those are just off the top of my head, and can be adjusted.

Added more

These were fan conversions btw, Enix didn't actually publish versions of DQ1-2 on MSX or X86000.

Yeah, replace that with "evergreen, and always awesome".

In my defense, does anyone on here honestly still watch the disney channel and their old cartoon movies? I doubt it. Besides, Nickolodean 4life, now those are classics. I watch Hey Arnold everyday. Oh yeah, this thread is about Nintendo. They are pretty great too. :P

That's not defense. If you had strictly talked about Disney in recent years it would be. You brought stuff over ten years old, which invalidates that "defense".

? Only Goofy and Daffy Duck interest me from Disney.I do not like their current movies, nor their past ones. Same with cartoons. Nickolodean has better cartoons and characters. Can I make my opinion any clearer? Also, Disney's amusement parks are overrated . Not to mention Walt Disney eats  Cuban children.

How is basically going "well do you agree they suck now?" a defense of "I thought they always sucked"?

How did I basically say "well do you agree they suck now?" Didn't you do something like this with one of my other posts on a separate thread? You made a false assumption about a phrase that I said and the meaning behind said phrase. You then looked at one word, completely ignoring the rest of what I said, throwing everything out of context. Besides, it was a ridiculous response to a ridiculous response where I was labeled insane because of my beliefs about a company who creates fictional characters. Also, honestly answer the question I asked in my previous post.  I defended myself by asking a question with a seemingly obvious answer over whether or not  anyone honestly is still interested in Disney (both their classic, and modern ips) and and their viewing habits of said content. Of course, I was generalizing, the same way most could claim noone prefers colorless tv, dial up internet, etc. although there will be one who claims they prefers/ likes it. If you just want me to tell why I dislike disney, I will tell you:

Horrendously boring characters: Minnie Mouse, Mickie Mouse, multiple princesses (they did not make most of these up although, they managed to make a boring story, just as boring in cartoon form), Bambi, Lilo, Stitch, Winnie the Pooh, etc

Their Vault

Their movies involving history are not even close to being correct and have caused some widespread misconceptions about historical events( Pochantas, Anastasia)

Reliance on female centered movies, tv shows.

Their ips are associated with subpar video games with  a few exceptions(Epic Mickey, KH, and supposedly Duck Tales)

Not to mention their buyout of Pixar and Marvel, which should have remained independent.

Finally Walt Disney eats Cuban children

I'm pretty sure Anastasia wasn't Disney's

Yep it was Don Bluth, creator of Dragon's Lair, and the insanely well animated secret of NIMH,

To Homer

plus "reliance of females" so your a misogynist?

What once made Disney's movie great was the quality of Disney's work was incredible, Movies like Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White or Snow White stay around is because most people agree their great (even though Snow White has all the character of a tooth pick, and amazingly the prince has less),

Frankly you come off as a bit of an angsty teenager, I don't like it because its for children, Nicktoons with their bodily fluids humor or flat social plotical stories are better because they were contemporary in my youth, etc. It is the type of arguement one might hear from a 12 year old, but as an adult your rationale should be formed more distinctly. Boring stories? What makes them boring.  Even if you don't like something it isn't necessary to refuse to see things from perspectives outside your own.

Examples

I don't like any final fantasy past the first one, but I will admit the music, visuals, and art direction is consistently superb in the series

I don't like metal gear solid, because I find the controls to be poorly designed, the general gameplay and level design dull (I prefer stealth in which you are weak and being caught puts you in a desperate struggle, not throwing a few more gaurds out), and  the story seems ludicrous, But I can understand that other people prefer a focus on the type of stealth present in MGS and it would nullify level design complaints and some people like conspiracy stories

I'd take shining force over fire emblem any day because I prefer the art, music, and more "arcade" style gameplay, others like the challenge one misstep destroying a carefully planned

I find Koei's sim games terribly boring, I love the history part, but the player is too far removed from the action, but if you like management and macro conflicts they must be the best (I assume)

It isn't difficult to allow your opinion to be strong but allow other's there without becoming condescending

Also being bought out by disney is the best thing that could have happened to marvel considering how consistently mismanaged marvel tended to be, how long after Disney bought out marvel was Marvel vs. Capcom 3  announced? Xmen the arcade game was also rereleased, I doubt marvel would have ever allowed for that on their own according considering how far up their own butts their management tended to get

for pixar personally, don't care, if your concerned if it will effect pixar's style, has it? Personally I'd like to see disney drop the self improvement themes and go back to telling a story for its own sake and not for some overarcing thematics

First of all, I do not hate women, and even if I did, does it matter? Why does everyone who defends disney cling to its past, completely ignoring its present state? I could claim Atari and Namco are amazing, and list  a number of its past games, but the present would beg to differ. The quality of Disney's work?

ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzyLZYYb2qk
Of course this was common in most early cartoons, but I have yet to see it as often as in Disney works. Another thing people cling to when defending disney is their constant adding of characters, but it seems like most are used once and then forgotten. What makes the stories boring? They are pretty much copies of each other, with a few different twists. Besides, they did not create Cinderella, Snow White, and Alice in Wonderland, so I do not see your point. Is it wrong that I dislike, Disney because they alienate my audience? They rely to much on the young female gender, and completely ignore the rest. They tried to correct this by aquiring Marvel. They bought out Marvel in August 2009, and MvC 3 was announced in April 2010. Do you honestly think Disney had anything to do with that game? Just because my opinion obviously differs from yours, I am being condescending? How am I being condescending? Also, just because my opinion differs, you label me an angsty 12 year old? I could claim you are a 6 year old girl, because that is who Disney obviously targets. So what if my humor differs? As for Disney affecting Pixar, they forced them to make Toy Story 2, and that was by far the worst movie they made. How was marvel mismanaged, and please provide a link.

"Marvel earned a great deal of money and recognition during the comic book boom of the early 1990s, launching the successful 2099 line of comics set in the future (Spider-Man 2099, etc.) and the creatively daring though commercially unsuccessful Razorline imprint of superhero comics created by novelist and filmmaker Clive Barker. Yet by the middle of the decade, the industry had slumped, and in December 1996 Marvel filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.[29]

In 1991, Ronald Perelman, whose company MacAndrews and Forbes had purchased Marvel in 1986, took the company public in a New York Stock Exchange stock-offering underwritten by Merrill Lynch and First Boston Corporation. As part of the process, Marvel Productions sold its back catalog to Saban Entertainment (which was acquired in 2001 by The Walt Disney Company).[citation needed] Following the rapid rise of this popular stock, Perleman issued a series of junk bonds that he used to acquire other children's entertainment companies. Many of these bond offerings were purchased by Carl Icahn Partners, which later wielded much control during Marvel's court-ordered reorganization after Marvel went bankrupt in 1996."

--That's from Wikipedia.  I know they aren't always accurate but I remember when that happened.
