Forums - Sales - Sony's PlayStation 3 Wins Market Share From Wii, Xbox in U.S???

i believe that ww market share matters more than a certain country's market share of a console.

Damn things have changed since 2009 began. Here are my new visions for the end of the generation.

Wii: 135 mil

Ps3: 85 mil

360: 60 mil

How does it look like that? Sony still isn't gaining ground, so where is your evidence to support that opinion?

Currently Playing:

PS4 - Killzone:SF and Assasins Creed 4

XBox One: BF4, CoD:Ghosts, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5

Sony already are gaining ground worldwide on the xbox360. Also sony have most of their major games coming out next year where as nintendo and particulary microsoft have had most of their top franchises released and have already had their huge sales boosts from them.

Ummm, Sony is not gaining ground, what are you talking about? You must be a member of SDF, you can't be serious, or you are a total fanboy. What you just said is the same thing all the Sony loyalists have been saying. You should think for yourself. Clearly you don't actually KNOW what you are talking about, but nice try.  If you think Nintendo and MS don't have games to compete with Sony's big releases (delayed releases I might add) then you really don't have a clue.

 Worldwide though, they barely outsold the 360 by what was it....3,000 or something?  Within the margin of error.  If you call that gaining ground, then hats off to you.

A microsoft fanboy calling somebody else a fanboy because they are giving the facts...oooook. I'm sorry you don't like it but right now the ps3 is slightly out selling the xbox360. Only somebody truely deluded would think that nintendo and microsoft have bigger games coming out next year compared to sony. Sony won last generation because they had the best games. The majority of those games are yet to come out for the ps3 and a good chunk of them will be out in 2008. At the same time both nintendo and microsoft have already released the majority of their best games and have already received sales boosts because of them.

@Rol

It should increase(the gap) japan is sony's trump card.

This market share spin reminds me of a lot of what was seen in reporting the sales in Japan earlier this year.

When the Wii-PS3 ratio would drop, from 6:1 to 4:1 to 2:1 -- it would be hailed as a victory for Sony -- even though it still meant that their competition was selling twice as many units. Some even described it as Sony "closing the gap," even though they were selling fewer units than Nintendo.

Also, trumping month-to-month changes in market share makes the assumption that the consoles all follow the same demand cycle and that there are no supply issues. We know the Wii has been supply contrained and appears to possibly have a higher universal demand (not as effected by seasonality). In other words, the comparison is not as valid as the article makes it out to be.
