so the obvious course of action is to do nothing to make the game better. put no effort into it and wonder why no one likes it....makes sense....?

Why bother making the game better? Apparently according to people in this thread the previous NFS Wii games were rubbish and they have sold a few hundred thousand units. Why do this one any different? If the Wii userbase will gladly buy 500,000 units of a terrible game then the userbase deserves to be milked with shoddy ports if you ask me...

most of those sales would of come form when the game is like $10 I bet. I always seen NFS Wii games in bargain bins.

True, but the problem here, is that on Ps2 there was proof that you could make a good racing game and sell it because there were some good racing games... on Wii how can you prove that good racing games won't sell if no one has deleloped a single good racing game yet?

So far the only good racing game I know on Wii has sold more that 20million copies. Companies like EA are complaining because you can't sell hardcore games on Wii while their best effort was a rail-shooter, something that may have been considered cool in 1995, maybe...

The PS2 dominated Marketshare, and shared similar specs to the other consoles on the market at the time. This way it got easy (and still good) ports, and also could get games made for it easily ported to other consoles.

The Wii, while far out in front of the competition on actual sales, isn't actually dominating in Marketshare anywhere near like the PS2 was. Add in the fact that it's a SD console and the competition are both similar... And things wont go it's way all the time. This is nobody but Nintendo's own fault.

My point is, why bother making new, standout versions of games for the Wii, 4 years into it's lifecycle, when it's both a) STILL an unproven userbase and b) Game Engines for said games are already up and running extremely well on the HD consoles... And those games sell Millions?

If Nintendo released the Wii as a HD console... There would be no problems now. It would have the exact same support, if not better, than what PS3 and 360 get.

Inb4: Nintendo is never to blame! 3rd parties suck!

*Oh no you didn't* minority finger snap and headbob.

True, It's pointless to make any efforts on Wii at this time, but really if they satrted to make a good  effeorts on Wii since the beginning there could have been a profitable share of hardcore gaming on Wii... if you have to base of all your company strategy into making 0 risk decisions it's a also a good thing if you make 67 sequels of the same game, and if you don't ever create new IPs. (just like Nintendo does)

The funny fact here is that the Nintendo is seen as the company that plays it safe, but really they are no different from any other company. So if EA releases a shitty ports and Deadspace Extraction on Wii is due to Nintendo's fault? I don't see this as logic. And really even the "if Nintendo made the Wii HD" statement has no logic, the Wii was not HD but it had motion controls, if there are no good 3rd party games is because 3rd developers decided they cared about great graphics and they didn't give a shit about motion controls. So yes, on Wii 3rd parties sucks, I don't see why I can't be annoyed if one of my consoles is not supported.

Wow, this is pathetic. I didn't even know a Wii version existed untill I seen this thread.

Xbox 360 version:

Skip to 6 minutes for pure epicness.

I really doubt that the "Wii with HD" in place of the Wii would have gotten anymore support. After all, the motion controllers are still there, and the shovelware is still there. Adding HD doesn't mean adding support. The perfect example was the Gamecube, which was a PS2 1.5 according to specs. Games like GTA, Red Dead, and Midnight Club STILL didn't release on the GCN, after the fact theat it was stronger than the PS2. Adding HD support will do absolutely nothing. That is why Nintendo hasn't added it yet. Same with DVDs.  Western devs like Rockstar, and Epic Games will still just see it as a casual fad.

Almost as if they wanted it to look as crappy as possible compared to the HD versions.

Deliberate self-sabotage is more than an outside possibility at this point. They clearly did it with NBA Jam

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

The PS2 also had below-Dreamcast PS1-like graphics and very rushed games when it launched. Does that mean that the PS2 userbase deserved to be milked with more of such games since they sold? What about the PS2 shovelware? Since people bought a lot of shovelware on the system, according to you, there should only be shovelware on the system.

The Wii with HD would also have a Classic Controller Pro. Not just the Wii Remote... Which wouldn't be bad for a whole bunch of games anyway. It would also be more expensive to develop for, thus reducing the amount of shovelware developers would release on it due to risk of flops.

The Gamecube was a 3rd place console that didn't break 22 Million units Worldwide. The Wii has done more than that in the US alone. It's stupid to compare them in that way.

The Wii would have had tremendous FPS support from developers. It would have had fantastic racing support. It would have just had amazing support full stop. It would still have Nintendo's own system sellers on it hitting 10/15/20 Million units each, and it would still get the GOOD clones of those said games.

Call of Duty 3 on the Wii outsold the PS3 version. The Wii, if in HD, would have got Call of Duty 4 on day 1. It's safe to assume, with CoD3 Wii > PS3, that CoD4 would also have outsold the PS3 version had it launched day 1. This would have given the Wii GREAT FPS support and possibly TPS support. The Wii missed out on CoD4 because the game engine wasn't ready for Wii. Had the Wii been HD... You would have had a potential 6 Million selling game right there. And we know what happened after CoD4...

The main thing I see you lot complaining about with this NFS game is that it looks like a PS1 game. If the Wii was in HD... It would have had a very similar looking game to PS3/360. You lot complain about the EA Sports games. If the Wii was HD it wouldn't have to have different art styles like All Play or whatever to try appeal to the stereotypical kiddy userbase that Wii has. Instead it would have the REALISTIC look, and thus... Appeal to more people who actually follow Football or whatever.

I'm sick of the same old people crying about the same crap over and over again. Nintendo are as much to blame for the Wii's 3rd party support as the 3rd parties themselves. Yet if you start a thread complaining about how Nintendo are making games that look like trash compared to games on the HD systems... It's trolling. Double standards ftw, eh?

The difference is they also bought the big 3rd party games in Millions, not just the 3rd party shovelware. The PS2 was the following console to the PS1, a Generation leader and 3rd party "dream" console. The PS2 was very similar in specs to the Xbox and Gamecube. The PS2 dominated marketshare-wise. The PS2 wasn't marketed as a system for Children, parties and old people from day 1.

The PS1 had excellent support from the 3rd parties due to Nintendo's fuck up, and Sony kept those deals with PS2 games like MGS2 and Final Fantasy. These games selling well, early on, proved that the audience for these types of games was on the PS2. If we want to go with Racing games, the PS console was huge in Europe... Europe LOVES racing. The PS consoles also had Gran Turismo early on... Which is a 10 Million selling franchise that uses realistic vehicles, not go-karts.

The Wii is a console that launched off of a generation loser. It has far inferior specs to the 2 competing consoles. Put these 2 together and you have a console that will have terrible support on launch. It's common sense. Especially when one of the competing consoles is the follow up to the then best selling system of all time and BOTH of them are very similar in specs.

Your typical AAA Game takes 2/3 Years to complete. This is after the game engine has been created. The majority of developers created HD game engines for the PS3 and 360. They spent a LOT of money on these engines. They WILL use them, especially when both PS3 AND 360 have proven to be able to sell near enough any genre in Millions.

It's literally obvious why the Wii gets the support it does. If people can't see why then they need to either take there goggles off and see facts or stop complaining about the same thing and trolling a game/developer every Month for another Wii game that doesn't meet YOUR expectations.
