I'll never be satisfied with graphics until I can't tell them apart from real life. I feel the same way about the PS3's graphics as you do Jdevil3. I was underwhelmed when I first used my PS3. The graphical difference between the PS2 and PS3 is really small. The jump in graphics wasn't as big as the PS1 to PS2. The majority of PS3 games look like PS2 games unless you play them on a HDTV.

Do you seriously remember what PS2 games looked like? PS2 couldn't run any of the games this gen, Probably Deadly Premonition Lol. I think you just expected "Crysis" because looking back at PS2 games the jump was huge. Going from San Andreas crab fingers to GTA IV wasn't a huge leap? Mass Effect and all the Unreal Engine 3 games this gen wouldn't even run on the PS2.

imo it still looks good by today's standards. Also San Andreas had bad graphics to begin with. Obviously some games won't run on the PS2 due to lack of processing power.

I was happy with Dreamcast graphics...

PS3/X360 graphics are barely acceptable, Wii I better won't comment.

Hence why i always aim to get pc version of multiplatform games.

I agree with many users I am satisfied with the graphical output of all three platforms. Infact like others I was satisfied last generation with GameCube and X-Box. I love graphics but they just don't justify a new console or a deterent to any consoles. My favorite console is still my Wii with my 360 being my second favorite. I'd have to say judging by which consoles I like my favorite is the weakest second favorite the second weakest and my least favorite the strongest.

Honestly I own a PC and prefer consoles. I think judging by your post that you are a graphic's whore. In other words graphics are all that matter to you. MGS4 is a beautiful game and I can't see myself asking for any better then that. Its almost photorealistic.

Am I satisfied with the consoles? Hell yah!

Yes, with games releases such as Gran Turismo 5, Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 I think this generation has already come a long way.

I do like to see games make deeper use of stereoscopic 3D and/or MLAA. Luckily soon upcoming games such as LittleBigPlanet 2, Motorstorm: Apocalypse, Killzone 3 and Infamous 2 show much technical promise.

However I am a tech enthusiast but not of the 'usual kind', I am also interested in fields of science. So for instance I take into account the limits of human perception when judging a game's technicals (includes graphics). The narrow minded 'tech enthusiast' may think the higher the resolution, the higher the framerate the better, that's not how I look at this. I find Crysis 1 a not that good looking game on max settings on my Windows 7 PC. Part of the problem may be art direction, art polish, acting performance, directing competences and such. And also achieving framerates higher than a human brain can process is not that relevant to me on a game per game basis, neither potentially higher resolution screens on tiny computer workdesk monitors compared to big ass living room HDTVs.

PS3 vs 360 sales

No, as a PC gamer I'm starting to see the consoles age. There are some gems such as GoW, Reach, GT5, Uncharted 2 and ME2 but all in all; hardware is getting old and especially the lack of system memory is becoming apparent compared to the PC games of today.

Which PC games are you referring to?

Although I of course agree the more main memory the better, I also think more storage capacity (Blu-Ray is in every PS3 but not in most gaming PCs) and memory transfer speeds are of similar importance. The more and the faster you can stream graphics data reduces the need for extra memory to achieve higher goals.

For example past gaming PCs had tons of memory requirements compared to Amigas or the NeoGeo, but games usually looked horendous in comparison during the 80s and early 90s.

Yes, console graphics are very impressive and we've never experienced anything like this in the past. Namely that consoles still can hold their own against PC graphics 4-5 after the launch of a generation.

When I play Uncharted 2 I experience something that looks as good as Crysis.

Killzone 2 looks as good as STALKER.

Demon's Souls looks as good as The Witcher.

GT5 looks better than any racing game on PC.

And games such as God of War 3, Alan Wake, Heavy Rain, Halo: Reach, Red Dead Redemption and The Last Guardian are all beautiful and on par with anything on the PC.

I'm easily satisfied even with last gen's graphics.
