My kid and I fought our way to the DS section before I finally decide to run for our lives! You have my respect for surviving that cluster fuck. I didn't even lay eyes on the 360/PS3 sections. The crowds were too intense. |
Yeah it was crazy and guess what I was one of the guys in the red shirts. from 9:30 on Thanksgiving to 6 in the morning. I didn't get to run away. However by 1 in the morning the crowds had calmed down a bit. From my experience at the store there were quiet a few who went for the buy oen get one for $5. I think we sold out of our supply of the holiday bundle dsi's. If we had 250gb x360s we don't now. We still have all other console. Many of the sales were other electronics or mps players.

Shamelessly stolen from last years Black Friday artcle.

I went to a Best Buy near my house at about 11 AM (after the doorbuster rush). What I saw was basically a disaster scene throughout the store shelves.
There seemed to be a lot of foot traffic near the Wii and DS sections.
I went there a few days ago and remember seeing a huge pile of uDraw tablets, and that is now virtually gone.
Move and Kinect were the main products being demoed, and while a lot of people were playing it, I'm not sure many people were buying it as I saw plenty of stock leftover.
My Girlfriend's best friends works in the Best buy in Aventura, FL and she said that she worked a 17 hour shift, and that by the time they closed The had NO MORE Wiis, and very few Xbox 360s I guess price really hurt Sony again.
The Walmart in Benton, Arkansas had no Wii's left! The Wii Fit Plus packages were gone. I saw a lot of people with Just Dance 2, and NSMBW. On the other end, there were still some ps3s, and a few xboxs.
Same story in Little Rock
I live on a military base so i went to the AAFES store in my BX. There's a gamestop in the bx right next to the store but it opened an hour later. Got there at 11pm and waited till 3:30am. They surprisingly opened earlier then they said they would but i'm not sure if that's common among other stores or BXs. Because its on a military base the BX is only opened to a limited amount of people who either are in the military, are civilians who work on base, or are related or know either of the first two. I was like 6th in line and when the store opened i went straight to get my sister's laptop and was first one to get it. I swung by the video game section afterwards since it was right next to where the laptops were and i wanted to pick up Assassin's creed brotherhood since it was on sale for $40. the whole section was already crowded, tamed compared to other stores but still crowded. Just Dance 2 was sold out already and people kept looking for it hopelessly. People were picking up alot of wii's and alot of people seemed interested in DKCR when they saw it. SOnic Colors was also picked up alot as well as Kriby's Epic yarn. I heard people asking about Red Dead Redemtion alot and where it was, they couldn't seem to find it which leads me to believe it was sold out. I went to gamestop afterwards to get some stuff and there weren't alot of people there, most were probably shopping at the other store since there are no taxes there. they were nearly full stock in everything, they had a bunch of kinnects and move. And that was pretty much my Black Friday.

Im fascinated by the idea that people all go to the store at the same time and push through crowds etc and put up with all manners of stress just to buy some cheap products.
Tease.

I'd love that atmosphere here, think I'd go just for window shopping!
