Forums - Sales - Black Friday sales musings

There were a crap load of Super Mario Galxy 2 games sold at Target, at least when I was there.

At work we had over 100 360/PS3 bundles (360 had Modern Warfare 2 and Mass Effect 2) we sold out of the 360 but and will have about 30 PS3 bundles left for the weekend (PS3 had Uncharted 2 and Medal of Honor). The Wii I'm not sure exactl how many we had but they seem to be selling like crazy to. Game wise we had the discounted titles of $10: GOW Collection, Uncharted 1, Killzone 2 around 10 copies of each that all sold out. They also had titles like Castlevania Judgement for the Wii for $10 (5 or so) that have sold out. So numbers are all over the place, but needless to say consoles got a lot of boost.

Also NBA2k for all systems sold well as everyone was asking for it at the store but we sold over 20 copies between all systems. NBA Jam did ok.

Also keep in mind today (Saturday) Wal-Mart is hording Kinect cameras and the $300 4GB Kinect bundles. I'm not sure how many we set aside though.

It's just that simple.

I had a talk with my friend at bestbuy, she told me this was a bigger Black Friday than last year, and people were very picky about price. If you hate the Wii, you are in for some hurt, they are selling like crazy. Kinect is also a hot item, and PS3 lagging behind.

When i checked online at Bestbuy yesterday all 9 wii bundles were sold out. Checked again today and they have restocked the bundles. It also helps that most of the wii bundles are still selling for $169.00. Thats a damn good deal.

I believe walmart has 2 games for 30 dollars for both ds and wii.

The PS3 is just too expansive, the cheapest ps3 is still 299 dollars everywhere.

The ps3 has blu ray and free online play and a free hard drive. How much should it cost to be desirable , the price of a wii or an arcade 360 ?? Items like the ipad don't seem to have a problem selling great at an expensive price and i bet that the 399$ xbox360 250GB kinect bundles are selling like hot cakes.

come on guys, no pics of said crowd?

Walmart was open 24 hours and Black Friday sales started at midnight.  People were lining up by 5 p.m. but people were able to see what items will be on sale at midnight.  I guess the people on line will get a wrist band and only they can get the sale items.

Funny thing tough is that Wednesday night I happened to be at Walmart and they had 2 250G Kinect Xbox360s, and I bought one (Great system), but by thursday night, they didn't have any.

Was out for most of the day on Black Friday and spent a lot of time in the electronics section.  Judging by the sales I noticed I would say Wii and 360 were heavily sought after, especially kinect and wii balance boards.  I think a 1:1 ratio between the two systems seems logical.  The PS3 seemed to be lost in the shuffle and I'm not sure if it's because of the $299 price tag coupled with very cheap blu-ray players, but I expect close to a 3:1 ratio in favor of the Wii and 360 to the PS3.
