Wow IGN trolling PS3 this year. When will they troll the Xbox?

My thoughts exactly. I can honestly say that the bugs in GT5 do not hurt the overall experience, play any of Bethesda's games, particularly Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas- IGN did not complain about bugs in those games to the extent they have with GT5. But they are so inconsistent, they gave AC: Brotherhood an 8 and it is a nominee for GOTY...wth?

Thats fucked up.

I could go on about IGN being ignorant and stuff but since Metroid: Other M is nowhere to be seen on that list I will just shut up.

Agreed

It's because it wasn't development for 5 years.

There was some hype but also a lot of negative feelings also

its ign, what do you expect. and come on ign werent hyped for gt5, it wasnt even on their top 10 best things to look out for at e3.

also a person whos favorite games are mass effect 2 and a halo game reviewd gt5, or ign are retards and this guy ofcourse lied because a halo fan woudnt enjoy a racing sim, or he was the person who was the most hyped for gt5, hence you can deduce that their was little hype at ign, so that means that gt5 shoudnt be a disapointment.

gt5 is a great game, it becomes better as you play it, you unlock more modes and car damage( two unlocks at level 20 and 40), the graphics are great, ofcourse the standerd cars dont look that great, but the tracks and the premium cars look amazing. and damn are the cock pit views sexy.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

They announced the game in 90's for PS1. I dont know what they did during that time, but it took them 10 years to release a game, bottom line.

And hows that even any better and more reasonable than what PD did with GT5??? ''Reviewers'' seem to think that.

It took them ten years to release a game. Not develop it. There for it wasn't in development for 10 years. :)

Because if they were to continue down the path and not waste all that development time on something that would never come to see the light of day and they would have released it a lot sooner.

For Alan Wake you also have to look at the amount of devs that work there compared to Polyphony. I believe the amount that worked on Alan was somewhere in the ~15 person range. Where as Polyphony had...?

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

After a year or 2 when the hype situation fades GT5 will be judged on it's own merits and will be considered a 1010

Same could be said for any game, but the only that I've ever seen that happen was with Diablo II. Its original release was a dissapointment to many, but after the final patch, the game is number 1 on many people's game of all time list.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Yup, and it took PD 5 years to release a game as well.

And if PD decided to go for 500, 600 or 700 hundred cars with only 50 tracks, you bet your ass it would also take them much less time to finish the game

Cant say anything about your last point, good one

@ Pizzahut

Don't forget Gran Turismo 5 prologue was first released in December 13 2007 (it's now 2010). The prologue also saw updates and had a Spec III release in 2008 as well.

So IMO in a nutshell there's a lot of fuss amongst primarily US media for nothing. As you point out the game is huge, so huge it's impossible to iron out any minor flaws. IMO sadly quite a few people are trying hard to highlight any potential lows they can find to serve personal agendas. This game is awesome, nomatter if people like it that it's awesome or not!

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

The characters are routinely awful and uninteresting, the storytelling is a jumbled mess that meanders through bland subplot – and then there's the gameplay, which consists of essentially moving in a straight line for the first twenty hours, repeatedly hitting X.

Yet Final Fantasy 13 received an 8.9 rating from IGN.  How can a journalistic company praise a game os much in its review and then in a "biggest disappointment of the year" bash it saying it's the worst RPGsthey've played this gen.  I'll agree with the fact that it's one of the worst RPGs as it's one of the worst I've played in my life, but why the initial high review score?  We already know.  All those FF13 scores are more than likely payoffs to give such a bad game such high ratings.

GT5 received such praise from them yet it's being bashed just for how long it's taken.  GT5 is a good racing game and it really shouldn't matter how long it's taken to be developed.  Test Drive Unlimited 2 hasn't taken as long but it'll be almost as long and I'm going to still think that's an amazing game, atleast as long as it's as good or close to as good as the original.
