Bang for your bucks: In my opinion, these days, games are too quick to finish and lack variety, I want a game that offers me so much content, I need to feel as if I don't need to play anything else because there's a billion and one things to do and doesn't force me to do what it wants me to do.
Right now, I'm trying the Nascar challenges and it's kicking my ass not the other way around. If this had been any other game, I would be stuck here with no other means of progresstion. But now I can set that aside and try my hands at the FR challenge cup or the Rally Championship to name but two of the possibilities open to me right now.
I agree the turnaround time of 5yrs is stellar, but the amount of content is this when you compare to say...Final Fantasy 13 is incompariable. (The comparision is made because FF13 as far as I'm aware took about the same time but failed to deliver in terms of variety, whereas this overachieves on that front.)
In my opinion, save for the visuals (which I happily admit is inferior to NFS:HP2) this game is perfect, then again, the visuals are not as bad as people make out, it's a beautiful game, sure not 5yrs beautiful but beautiful where it matters and needs to be.

yeah they can be compared as well. by logic in general not just mine.
Codemasters want to tell me about boring?! Half of DiRT was boring! Those goddamn pickup truck races, garbage truck races and mostly anything besides Rallycross and WRC racing or Super 1600 or Classic rally was downright tedious and a real chore to get through imo.
EA talking about making sims and failing to bring life into the game? How many games in a row had the exact same concept (tuned ricers, hip-hop music and terrible arcade phsyics)? Four games and another one after Pro Street (which was a shit game by the way) that was exactly the same. I'd rather have one terrific, good looking and sounding racing sim once every fifth year than five thirteen on the dozen arcade racers with zero soul in six years.

When people say a game didn't come close to reaching the hype, I say and who hyped this game? This game was hyped by people who didn't even play racing sims at all. It was hyped so much because in this day of fanboyism and sales and graphics arguments, people picked a side and then said well wait until GT5 comes out. I remember watching gamespots preview and he was talking about unlocking horns and someone wrote in, like horns for your helmet? If you are familiar with GT you would know the answer to that question. Hype is something we create, its not like PD said things that the game would do and didn't deliver. I know there are some features missing but Kaz said at the Madrid party that they are indeed working on implementing all those features and trust me if the game shipped with remote b-spec racing people would still be saying it didn't live up to the hype. It's a racing sim video game. Nothing more, it just seems to me people were expecting them to re-create the wheel or something.

If Dan Greenawalt said it, that would be fine. Based on what I've been reading, the game really does seem unfinished, and I honestly can't help but wonder what's been happening throughout these 6 years...
But EA and Codemasters, when they fail at even making a sim? Fuck right the hell off.

Fame_mcswagg for the win.
Let them speak on and on... in the end, GT5 makes for a far better sim and a far more techincally-fun racer than any of their games (that I tried, at least)... I can finally say that with a straight face because I got the game today!
By their definition, Wipeout HD whoops all their games butts no? :S colorful, fun, fast
Not the same ball game fellas, whining won't make you any better either, comparing sims to arcade racers is just pure siupid imho
And critics are WAY too harsh on GT5 imho, heck you see comments like "lighting in the game looks too good that it doesn't look like real life -_- I mean really?
