45k is really big for Italy only, to give you an idea :

In Spain (who is almost equal to Italy) a game reaches a sort of platinum status, at 40 k for ONE YEAR of sales !

I'd wait till we have official word from SCEE, hopefully in English, before trying to determine what exactly this means.

Halo Reach will only sell 4 million lifetime... even though it has already sold more than that!

Yeah, thats about how dumb you sound to most people. It seems that about 90% of 360 fans think the game won't break 5 million because pre-orders are low. News flash, most PS3 games aren't week 1 wonders like they end up being on the 360. Theres a MUCH greater margin between pre-orders and week 1 sales.

yes a bad translation.. but that sounds like pre-orders to me.

It is pre-orders, indeed.

The title translates literally to

"Gran Turismo 5, italian pre-orders record and first patch to play online".

In other words, the title seems to imply that this is a record-setting amount of pre-orders for Italy - I have no idea of older record setting numbers and thus of the turthfulness of the claim.
