MS actually tries to be successful in America and UK.

In Germany you might see 10 Xbox 360 commercials per year. You see them now in time for the Xmas rush. CoD Black Ops got some ads, but thats it. No Kinect ads, No Fable III ads - nothing!

Look at Xbox Live, here you miss important features that actually improved the service and pushed hardware.

Imagine Xbox Live without

  • ESPN
  • Last.FM
  • Netflix
  • Sky
  • Inside Xbox / Majors Minute and stuff

and Gears of War was never released in Germany. Sure you can buy it from Austria and a lot of people did so, but it was never in stores in Germany.

I want MS to go for the German or continental European market like they go for the UK and US market. They spent so much money on the Japanese market and managed to sell way better than with the Xbox1, but they have to realise that this is a MUST for Europe as well.

I never really understood how MS managed to drive XBL Gold memberships this way. I mean XBL is great, don't get me wrong, but I can get all those things just by using internet explorer. Every home console has Netflix now, and Facebook and Twitter...meh.

I would think PSN with free internet explorer, minus some features (like the Party system) would atract gamers in Americas just as much.

Personally I'm putting Sony up a vote when it comes to next gen consoles due to this "paying for online gaming."

This isn't realated to the thread, so don't comment on it, but my main annoyance with XBL is tha I pay for it even if I don't use it. MS forces me to essentially buy a 12 month card, but on a typical month where I am in school I only play max 10 hours a month. I only play more when it comes to a new release or breaks.

It was $50 a YEAR. Now its $60 a year. I really hope $4 and some change a month isn't breaking you. How much is your cell phone bill?

Honestly it all depends on personal taste. If you invest a lot in a gaming rig, the PS3 may seem like the more attractive offering given the quantity of its exclusives. If you have a laptop like me, the Xbox 360 seems more appealing given all those console exclusives in addition to the true exclusives.

It's worth noting that I bought an Xbox 360 before the PS3 Slim came out. If I didn't buy an Xbox pre-PS3 Slim, I might have considered getting the PS3 first (instead of getting it last summer) given that it's got better value for money now with free online, wi-fi (no longer an advantage since the 360 S Model has it now), Blu-Ray, a lot of exclusives, etc.

That said, I haven't played the PS3 exclusive library enough to really say whether the PS3 exclusives are appealing. I did not like God of War III. I never was a Kratos fan and I just didn't like the gameplay personally. That's just me. I loved Heavy Rain (hopefully I'll love Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit too). Game sold a hell of a lot less than God of War but Heavy Rain is much more my thing. White Knight Chronicles was good but it was just that, good (or at least thats how it is with the singleplayer anyway. Multiplayer seems like its a different story). When I play a truly great RPG like Persona 3 that really sucks me in, there's no comparison. Didn't care for Disgaea 3 (maybe I'm just not used to this kind of game. I liked FFT and Shining Force but just because I like a couple SRPGs doesn't mean you like em all. Disgaea for whatever reason failed to hold my attention) and I got bored of 3D Dot Game Heroes after going through a few temples. I have LittleBigPlanet GOTY, Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction and Resistance 2 all still sealed (first two bundled with the 250 GB PS3 I bought, the last was bundled with a Dualshock 3 controller).

I pretty much skipped last gen so I'm not really much of a Playstation guy anymore. My favorite games on the PS1 were RPGs (I'm not into the genre as much as I used to be though. Some of them are downright addictive for me but many of them these days make me go meh), sports games and MGS1 (but I haven't played MGS 2 and 3 yet).

Also I can't say much about PSN really. I played Super Street Fighter IV on PSN and I didn't run into problems. That's about it. When my Xbox Live Gold expires in February, I'm going to give PSN a real shake and see if my experience with it is positive overall like it was with SSFIV.

The things that makes it so much better in USA is netflix, last.fm, ESPN, etc. In Europe and rest of the world you don't get many of these features.

Actually my good man, I assume you don't own both systems because Netflix is now better on the PS3 now that the requirement to download instantly with a disk for PS3 is gone. And you can actually search for movies you want to watch instantly just like the PC because the ps3 can access the internet while the 360 cannot. Just thought I would clarify this since its always good to be informed. Of course, my reasoning might be wrong too.

Actually my good man you would be wrong.  You can now search for movies and add them to your queue on Netflix for 360 just like you can the PC and PS3.

There are a few reasons that it sells great in America. It caters to american tastes(i.e. Gears of War, Halo). It also has Xbox live. I'm not sure how true it was, but the rumor for a long time was that the PSN had a ton of problems. My son owns one, and he said that playing online is a lot slower than on the 360. Two of the biggest reasons I originally bought my 360 was the price, and the controller. I couldn't afford the $600 to get the PS3. I realize that the price has been lowered, but Sony lost a ton of customers to Microsoft because of their initial ludicrous price point. Now the PS controller is outdated. I think that everyone realizes that. Many video  game magazine editors prefer the 360 controller. If you don't recall, Microsoft received a lot of flack for their original controller. They listened to their consumers and developed the new controller(obviously the d-pad needs some work). And yes it is an American company. No offense to Sony, but as an American I would prefer to keep the money in my country. Sorry, it's how it is, and I don't think that I'm the only one. Sony dropped the ball with the release of the PS3. They have obviously made great strides to make up lost ground, but at the cost of letting a very ambitious and wealthy company inside to fight with. The sad part is that if the PS3 was priced originally at the same cost as the 360, I would have gotten the PS3 hands down. I hated the original Xbox. The ultimate reason that the 360 is huge in America is because Sony screwed up. Period.

It's more expensive in Canada, and $5 a month for 10 hours of gameplay online monthly? Thats 50 cents an hour, did I not already buy my game? It builds up, and don't hate me cause I'm cheap.I wouldn't mind so much if I could buy my subscription by the month at a more reasonable rate (it costs more to buy 6 individual months then a full year subscription, same goes for 3x3 month subscriptions). Most games I buy I get for $20, of my 69 360 games, only 8 were bought full price.

i have been seeing some facts about Xbox , Well looks like Mexico is the 5th largest market for Xbox...

woow i allways knew Xbox was big on Mexico but 5th ?? damn... U.S cames in 1st and UK in 2nd for sure...

Well why has Xbox been so strong there ?? Even in Ps2 era there was ONE December where Xbox beat Ps2 back in time.

And its just going to get stronger from now , i can see next gen being dominated by Xbox in Americas with Nintendo Console in a long very long 2nd place.

Look at Xbox Software Sales in Americas are Ridiculous!

Look at Xbox Software Sales in Americas are Ridiculous!

Ahh, Sorry To Burst Your Bubble But The Sells Of The 360 Aren't Ridiculous.  Ridiculous Would Be Doubling The Top Console Sales And Their Just 40,000 With Atleast A Couple Of Years To Go.

And Well We All Have Thoughts On Who's Going To "Smash" In The Next Gen Consoles So Maybe Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo.  It's Unpredictable Like When Sony Took Over The Console Market For Almost A Decade But Now Wii Dominating And Sony Struggling To Catch Up To Microsoft.

What Ever, As Always I'm Going To Ask If Anyone Has Any Disagreement With What I Have Wrote Then You Can Email Me Why.

I admit, I bought too many, but when you see Devil May Cry 4, or Soul Calibur 4 for $10, it's tempting.

I definatly am holding back on games now until I catch up. I learned my lesson of only buy a game if I plan to play it within the next 3 month.

Tell me how? last time I tried you couldn't so maybe there equal now. On the ps3, to look somthing up you just press triangle. I guess I 'll try. Still it doesn't change the idea that Netflix is no longer better on the 360.

Edit : After checking out netflix on my 360 I can confirm now that both systems have the same features for both systems. Good news for movie fans all around.

For long I didn't believe that Americans will buy only American products , If U look at Toyota and how it's doing well in US .

I think Americans rely on commercials so much when they purchase & that makes XBOX strong there , where in other markets word of mouth is important .

While 360 is a good purchase for anyone who likes to play different type of games (it's got a good library) unlike first one, it is still not beating Nintendo & Sony outside .

I think it still have life in it (360) but it will not beat Sony outside of America (maybe only UK but I think it will be close there)

Microsoft blow away their long head start before the two Japan giants with so many probloms in their console & while in some parts of the world (Like US) they gave away free ones for the dead ones , that wasn't the case in other countries

This helped in US market , while it decreased trust in their manufactured consoles outside.

As the market expands Microsoft market will expand everywhere & it's the best if U have the biggest market backing U up, US, Mexico & then all other south American countries who are increasing their attention into the world of video games.
