There are a few reasons that it sells great in America. It caters to american tastes(i.e. Gears of War, Halo). It also has Xbox live. I'm not sure how true it was, but the rumor for a long time was that the PSN had a ton of problems. My son owns one, and he said that playing online is a lot slower than on the 360. Two of the biggest reasons I originally bought my 360 was the price, and the controller. I couldn't afford the $600 to get the PS3. I realize that the price has been lowered, but Sony lost a ton of customers to Microsoft because of their initial ludicrous price point. Now the PS controller is outdated. I think that everyone realizes that. Many video game magazine editors prefer the 360 controller. If you don't recall, Microsoft received a lot of flack for their original controller. They listened to their consumers and developed the new controller(obviously the d-pad needs some work). And yes it is an American company. No offense to Sony, but as an American I would prefer to keep the money in my country. Sorry, it's how it is, and I don't think that I'm the only one. Sony dropped the ball with the release of the PS3. They have obviously made great strides to make up lost ground, but at the cost of letting a very ambitious and wealthy company inside to fight with. The sad part is that if the PS3 was priced originally at the same cost as the 360, I would have gotten the PS3 hands down. I hated the original Xbox. The ultimate reason that the 360 is huge in America is because Sony screwed up. Period.
