Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox 360 launch day numbers, pretty amazing stats

It's amazing to look at these numbers and see the Xbox 360 not just having the top spot but the top three no less and even humbling the PS2.  What's even more amazing is that it's likely to push off the PS3 Modern Warfare 2 launch next year and claim another spot in the top 10.  These numbers alone are a testament to the success of the Xbox 360.

Yes it is impressive but didn't we had a thread like this yesterday =p?  (8 of the top ten launch games are from this gen)..Anyway good for MS :).  Wonder if GT5 has a chance and the new Monster Hunter..

Hard to say, GT is a much weaker franchise than Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto but it may just be able to make it.  I haven't been following Monster Hunter but if the new one is on PSP its chances of making the list is very slim at best.

1. Our last gen numbers aren't complete

2. The FPS genre has grown by leaps and bounds this gen, especially in America.

3. Games tend to have a huger budget on marketing this gen. Also MS are amazing at marketing.

Impressive numbers indeed, though I find it slightly disturbing that the list is so crowded with shooters. Maybe it just says a lot about the shooter audience, I don't know.

I expect Black/White to take the #3 Spot when it releases in the West.

GT5 won't. GT games have great staying power...not huge openings.

PS3 Black Ops will overtake Halo 3 with Japanese numbers O_o! Wow COD is  a beast.

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

Except for Pokemon and GTA San Andreas, all those tittles are front loaded saleswise.

Notice how Mario Kart is not present in that list but yet it but rapes any of those games saleswise.

I wonder if this gen there will be a blue ocean game for any  of the HD platforms. Maybe GTA5?

I'm having a de javu

Above: still the best game of the year.
