Forums - Website Topics - Can gamrReview review older games?

i've been browsing through my other account's gamelist so i can add them to this account and found a lot of games with an "N/A" review section, wouldn't it be cool if we had a "RetroReview" day every week where we review older games that doesn't have reviews? or old unknown games (which would be AWESOME)

while I like the idea of doing older largely unknown old game reviews we are currently doing our best to get on Metacritic so we have a strict policy of only doing reviews within 60 days of a game's release.  This probably will remain as a policy even after we get on Meta so I'm afraid your only outlet for such an idea would be user reviews.

...

Certain staff member once said that there can only be reviews of current generation games.

This could change, of course.

I heard the same thing

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

This would be an awesome idea but unfortunately Metacritic aren't too keen on it...

Seriously anyway. Why the hell  aren't VGChartz on there yet? We've even been quoted on Game boxes and trailers and all sorts!

I'm sure the owner of GAF is secretly the owner of Metacritic ¬_¬

i see, well good luck on getting on Metacritic...

I don´t know if they can, but they should and hope they eventually do

I think it'd be interesting, maybe even bring on a reviewer or 2 dedicated to classical games? But yeah, this is definitely a low, if at all, priority... -_-

I was seriously considering doing reviews of games from yesteryear until I ran across that restriction on the staff site. Oh well, not much interest in reviewing current games. Personally, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, I tend to want reviews for older games that I missed first time around. Heck, sometimes it's just fun to read a review of one of your favorite classics.

I just feel it's weird to limit what we do as a site just to get on Metacritic. Besides, I'll always support GAMErankings over a generalized media site like Meta.
