Forums - Nintendo - Which third party company is simply going to miss the Wii boat?

Totally Agree with Smash_Brother with Konami as they have the Silent Hill series and MGS where imo if thwey were to do a well done Wii bundle pack of Silent Hill or MGS thyen it would sell well as Resident Evil 4 has proved.

Perhaps with Pro Evolution next year they'll learn that with the Wii you get out what you put in.

Those people that think they're perfect give a bad reputation to us who are...

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

What about Rockstar/Take Two?

I mean, yes there is Table Tennis and Manhunt, but both failed (for different reasons). Could it be there will be NO GTA (even a spinoff) on the Wii? Take-Two has financial problems (big time, it is not unlikely they go down), and given the current sales history, I don't see Rockstar backing the Wii up in the future.

Tecmo(are they a Microsoft 2nd party?) they hate nintendo systems...
Konami has not put a good game on an N system in a long time... why don't they put PES on Wii? Oh well, they are losing at least a million in sales.

Besides the N64 capcom has been good to nintendo, I buy alot of their games : )

Pe2008 is coming to the Wii. they even put some effort in the controls, just seek it up.

PES 2008 looks very promising. I hope the controls work well, then I'm gonna buy it for sure.

TT also released 2 baseball games and they have at least Civilization, Major League Baseball 2K8, and Top Spin Tennis on the way. 5 games in 18 months is not major support but it is better than GC or PSP.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

Developers Missing the Boat
- Square (Have a spin-off or two)
- Konami (Have some casual crap)
- Rockstar (Have some casual crap)

Worrisome Developers
- EA (Have some casual crap)
- Ubisoft (You want games that are raited above T?)
- Atari (We still publish games?)

Possible boat abandoners down the road
- Capcom (We have all the faith in the Wii *to fund our serious projects for other consoles*)
- Namco (Here, have RPGs, but everything else, not yours)
- Sega (Mario & Sonic didn't sell four million, Mutiny!)

probably square and konami.

as for world of warcraft not being a hardcore game...

umm.. compared to most hard core games world of warcraft qualifies as ultra hardcore

not in terms of difficulty but in terms of how long people play and how many people have bought the game

well over 15 million people have downloaded/bought the game

the average- CASUAL player, plays 20 hours a week..

and continues to play ~20hrs a week for well over a year

Honestly I can't name a single 3rd party developer that has actually made a significant effort on the Wii yet. Just compare the investments on Wii to investments on the other consoles- essentially no developer has taken a significant risk on a large-budget Wii title. The closest I can come up with are Zack & Wiki and RE:UC, so I guess Capcom wins. No More Heroes is a good effort, but done by a smaller developer with a limited budget. Incidentally, the Japanese publisher Marvelous Entertainment(MMV) will probably focus primarily on the Wii. Ubisoft has done decent with their casual division, but these games are cheap to produce and they haven't made a real investment. The Wii has yet to see a big-budget 3rd party title. Only Capcom has produced medium-budget titles and actually good ports.

Edit: Actually there was Red Steel too, although it was rushed for launch.

RenegadePhantasm basically said it all. Although I would give Namco some credit, true Soul Calibur Legends didn't turn out to well but at least their RPG's appear to be of high quality. The development team that did ToS on GC is doing the Wii sequel and Tri-Cresendo the makers of the Baten Kaitos and Eternal Sonata games are doing Fragile.

should I count those that do not miss the boat but struggle not to fall? :)

Konami is one, though I believe that PES will be a great paddle.

now reading the topic.. Girl Gamer named a few one which I agree with..

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

All of them.
