I'm fond of Nintendoworldreport, especially their podcasts, but they can be a bit behind on the news at times, and are occasionally too generous with their scores in my opinion.

I don't mind a little "home cookin" sometimes, but I know what you mean.  If they were Nintendo Homers all the time it would be annoying.  It's nice when the editors actually like the company they cover though.  Whenever I read a review or preview where the say something to the effect of, "It's a good thing they included classic controller support for this game..." It usually negates anything else they have to say about a Wii game (MH: Tri being the exception for me).  I guess it mostly applies to FPS's.

Also this kinda solidifies my thoughts that with all of the changes, pressures from various higher ups at IGN, it's been harder on the Nintendo team more than anything and it's likely that older crew that essentially started the site have issues with the changes and found that their pastures were no longer green there, I mean Matt C was essentially over all other reviewers and yet he still left.

If anyone actually followed the Nintendo podcasts you actually saw the entire crew having issues at various times, 2006 GotY awards, Matt C voicing a lot of issues with how essentially other reviewers acted like fanboys when they didn't even play all the nominees but automatically wrote off certain games, and yeah it was very unprofessional.  Daemon Hatfield having his issues all three Matt, Mark and Craig chimed in on a few of those situations.

Personally it seems like the big media outlets for gaming are under a lot of changes (mostly bad) and there is no room for the guys that really believed in their work and saw it shape the gaming media rather now it's open floor for the unprofessional people that get hits by creating controversy or hype, professional trolls and fanboys essentially. 

I really do love VGChartz.  Even though I've only been a member of the community here for a little while I followed this site for years.  You guys seem more like regular gamers than most outlets and that's what I want in my previews, news and reviews.

It's a sad state of affairs in the gaming media community.  I agree with what you said regarding IGN.  I would say the same thing happened to GI years ago.  I used to subscribe to that magazine, but I don't find a whole lot worthwhile in there any more.  I find it hard to believe that it's so difficult to find someone that actually likes Nintendo to run the Nintendo channel(s).  When the review focuses more on the "limited Wii hardware" and not the game itself it's hard to take the editor seriously.  Shouldn't we judge a game by it's content and not by the hardware it happens to be running on?  We all know the Wii has inferior specs.  We expect that.  So does the DS, and yet they don't compare it to the PSP and expect PSP-like experiences.

Sorry, that turned into a little rant.  I guess I'm just a little sad to see gaming media changing.  Idk whether it's internal pressures to make more money and generate hits or external pressures from developers and publishers to get exclusives or what.  But it's a changed ballgame and I'm not a big fan.  VGChartz, keep up the good work and don't get too big for your own britches (spelling?).  Make all the money you want, but I hope you can stay as fair and impartial as you've been so far.
