Forums - Sony - Why is Uncharted 2 so good

1. Great Story: draws you in, and no matter how hard the situation or your get lost you are constantly trying as hard as possible to see the end of the story. For example in the mountains puzzle platform section, i got lost. really for like an Hour but i still played constantly to find out what happens next. Also the part were you have to fight the 3 super mutants guys in the small area. I played it like 100 times wanting to see the end. No game has done that for me, usually i just quit and come back later.

holy crap you got lost for an hour on one of the most linear games of the year? (next to final fantasy 13)

like others have said , the storyline is very cliche Indiana Jones-like , i think you mean't the "Pacing" of the game instead of the storyline (based on your examples)

thats has to make you the worst player I ever know of (jk)

But yea, it is so good I really have no idea how could Naughty Dog possiblely top Uncharted 2 with the 3rd game, fight on top of a jet plane?? shooting while attached to a falling helicoper?? swing across a forest on fire?? taking on an army of Chuck Norris clone??

That would be the best thing ever

Enslaved does it first!

also , for that same style no game did it better than Shadow of the colossus.

To sum it up in one sentence, low expectations. If you saw a movie with a story like Uncharted at the theatre, chances are you wouldn't buy the DVD.

The expectations were extremely high, I don't know what industry you've been following...

The story in Uncharted 2 is as good, if not better than every other Hollywood adventure blockbuster. Once again, I don't know what industry you've been following, because nearly every smash hit movie to come out in the last ten years has an abysmal storyline. People bought Avatar, Transformers, Twilight and The Expendables, so I can't see why anyone wouldn't buy a movie with Uncharted 2's storyline.

Big words for Uncharted... Anyway im about to go to bed so like I will say this one thing.

Nathan Drake gets shot between 50 and 20,000 times depending on how good you are. One bullet actually does any damage to him. To actually call something which has that abberation in it a good storyline would require a childlike suspension of disbelief. Im pretty sure if Dora the explorer was a big budget game, a lot of people could call it the 2nd best story behind Uncharted 2.

Tease.

The graphics were really good, but i thought the story was rubbish ,93 mins of cutscenes to help it along ,the puzzles in the game were simplistic no thought required, and the game is to linear .this game is a 7 out of ten game at best imo

i said it before and i say it again:

ARTIFACTS ON THE MOON!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I loved U2 but "got lost for an hour"?  Wow.  There was probably one section where it had the potential to stump me.  I think I let Drake idle while I took a sip from a drink or something and the game gave me the answer to the puzzle!  I mean, it wrote the solution right there on the screen!!  Still a great game that everybody should play, though.  Production values are really high in that one.

The game is good only the first time you play (except for some parts, like the train and the car chase). After that, it gets really annoying and pointless repeating the same scripted actions over and over again.

Above: still the best game of the year.

If uncharted 2 story is bad that means 90% of games out there are just plain pathetic story wise.

what story impresses? COD? halo? GTA? LMAO!

105 professional reviews on meta and only one is below 89 and even that isn't below 80. 38 out of 105 are perfect scores.

7 out of 10 at best... Well .. you're entitled to your opinion :'D
