Are you saying they don't know what they're talking about? The ONLY people I ever see claim all this stuff is possible are forum dwellers, I never see developers go "Oh Kinect? We can do all the same stuff on the EyeToy." |
I'm saying it has to be understood that they're talking about ease of achieving something, not black and white could/couldn't. As I made clear Kinect should be an easier platform for something like this. But, as a programmer myself I can see that the title in a very similar form could definately be supported just via a webcam (of suitable resolution) backed with suitable image recognition software.
Also, let's be frank, they have a product to promote and for sure they are over-egging the uniqueness of Kinect to the equation. Just Dance on Wii provides to the player essentially the same experience - you dance. So I'm not saying they don't know what they're talking about, I'm saying it's pretty obvious they are putting a marketing spin on their comments.
As I also noted both the PS3 and Wii already have successful IP in this space, and they obviously have some form of exclusive agreement with MS at this point, so in their shoes what do you expect them to say?
They noted themselves they could probably bring this title to the Move and you just have to look at what needs to be supported for the title to understand they probably could.

So, I take it that you believe capcom at their word when they say they can't even manage to get the RE5 title screen to run on the Wii.
Shows how good of programmers they are

Does your post have a point? I'm sure it'd be ok if I made a similar post in the Nintendo forum, right? Nice flamebait.

No one is claiming that PSeye is anywhere near as good as kinect for this type of dance "game" so from that point of view it may not be pissible for the EXACT x360 game to work on the PS3. Maybe PSeye can't track 20 limbs at the same time but maybe it can track 19:). Surely the PS3 PSeye can handle a cut down version of the game with maybe 8 or 12 limbs instead of 20. |
It doesn't really need to anyway. Pretty sure Dance Central only scores one person at a time, anyone else is just seen as an outline by the camera. Plus the way DC works by just scoring your moves rather than representing it on screen is perfect for hiding any flaws. Just showing the silhouette avoids any bottom of an avatar's shoe type situations.
A lot of people seem to forget that the Eyetoy existed before the move controllers. I don't know why some people are acting like nothing but Kinect can do motion tracking. Odds are it does a better job, but that doesn't mean other devices aren't workable.

But the Kinect is black and shiny! And it's made by MS! That means it's revolutionary!

Didn't you promise to leave these forums or something?

No, wasn't a promise. Just exercised the idea. And really it would only be the sales section of the site, seeing that Sony would win every week because of all the extra markets the PS3 is in, and all the surprise is taken out of the sales.
Something tells me you wouldn't mind if I did though :P
