Why would it be a joke? he is 100% correct. The only thing that matters in a buyout is the cost per share (i.e. the market cap of the company), anything else is immaterial. Still I would find the rumors hard to believe, Sony is not a healthy company, people here focus on the PS brand which is doing well, the rest of the company is in the toilet.

lol I can't believe you just said that. The playstation 3 is doing horrible, financial wise, and is a big reasona as to why sony is doing so poorly. I don't see apple buying sony, unless they are planning on making huge changes because as you said the company is in the toilet and its struggling hard to get out.

What the hell would they wan't with Sony ? Yeah , shitloads of patens , TV's and that's it. I don't think they are very interested in audio systems. And if they really wan't the company , like also controlling it directely , that will cost ALOT. Reorganisation of a company with more than 100.000 employes.

But IF it happens , it could turn out VERY well , or VERY bad. I like Apple. More than MS. Yeah , I know , Apple is 8338902 more expensive than some random cheapass crappy plastic overheating constantly crashing virus sucking piece of nice laptop... But he , it has the same specs !

If it happens , I hope they will just boost money into the company , but don't change to much. Let the guy's from the PS departement do their job. Some devisions DO need change. Bravia , great tv's , not selling very good. Same shit with the audio. Fine audio , also not selling very good. Probally because of marketing. And some of you guy's still see Sony as a company who only makes Playstations. It goes beyond that.

 

Also , when whas the last time some REALLY big company took over another REALLY big company ? Doesn't happen to often...

Well , I rather see Apple buying everything than Google. Google are a bunch of fuckers. The only nice thing about Google is their searching engine...

Except they already have a very loyal Apple base, and they could get them to buy TVs etc, especially if they had integrated Apple TV so they could compete more directly with the recent Sony google TVs

Apple doesn't want to build every product under the sun like Sony does. That's not their business model.

They didn't make phones until recently... Apple is expanding its product portfolio, so what makes you think they are going to stop now. They want control of your entire digital life like many other companies, and Sony will help them expand their product range to do that

They haven't made every product under the sun yet, but they are rapidly expanding and they might want to take advantage of the very strong brand while they can

Honestly though, looking at Sony's sheer size and how much their market value has fallen over the last ten years or so. If there is a huge company that could be bought by someone it is Sony, and if there is someone with cash enough and desire to expand their market it is Apple.

There are huge differences between both companies and the japanese government would annoy the hell out of Apple if they were going to buy Sony and try something radical with it. Still Apple could be a "silent buyer" of half of the shares only so they can take hold of Sony's very ample hardware market.

 

But maybe I'm being too optimistic for honestly I would want to see it happen if only for the megatons and meltdowns. Bring it on the iPlay in 2013 for $999!
