46,000 Wii Remotes sold each day in the US

65.3 million Wii controllers shifted in the States

Nintendo's just chucked us a load of Wii-related sales figures, seemingly designed to illustrate the console's success over the last few years.

The big N says it has sold an average of 46,000 Wii Remotes in the US every day since the system launched in November 2006, totalling 65.3 million units.

That's enough "for every man, woman and child living in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas, San Jose, Detroit and San Francisco, Florida, Ohio, Virginia and North Dakota", the company says.

Here's the full breakdown of Wii Remote sales:

30.41 million included with the Wii hardware
12.92 million sold with Wii Play
18.56 million white versions sold separately
2.44 million black versions sold separately
467,500 pink versions sold separately
465,200 blue versions sold separately

In addition, Nintendo says it has sold 52.9 million Nunchuk controllers in the US.

The company said last week that the new Wii Remote Plus controller will launch in the States on November 7, alongside red, limited edition Wii and DSi XL bundles.

That's what I thought initially, but no. In their press release (which you can see  here for example - http://www.nintendoeverything.com/53904/) it says

"In the United States alone, more than 65.3 million Wii Remote controllers have sold through to consumers."

Nintendo have their own tracking service, so have access to "actually sold to consumers" numbers.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Holly sh**... 30M Consoles have been sold.

I had forgotten about that, even better then. It's nice to have actual reliable figures and not vague useless numbers

That's a lot of broken TVs  ;)

So... Is there any way for us to look at VGC US numbers, see if the Wii is over/undertracked?

It's nice they are using precise terminology.

Not some PR BS like 'Wii controllers'.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

good,well deserved nintendo. lol
