I gotta say it - F*K SE to hell if it happens. It's not that I care about FF13vs going 360 - so be it... but don't cock tease PS3 FF fans with lies.  SE is going down the shit hole IMO>

  Unleash The Beast!

End of 2011 Sales: Wii = 90mil, 360 = 61mil, PS3= 60mil

no it just mean that they are looking for people with hd experience, let's not jump to conclusions.

besides if it comes to 360 expect it to be very inferior this time, same 540p resolution, special effects such as cloud formations turned off, textures lower, some scenery missing etc

ffxiii only just manage to run on x360, when you got to grand pulse it was almost unplayable sinking to as low as 20fps somtimes

It'll probably be a timed exclusive at least. I'd be surprised if it never released on the 360.

It'll probably end up exactly like FFXIII, PS3 timed exclusive in Japan (with 360 getting the International rerelease a year later), and day-and-date multiplatform in the west.

And I for one, Think it can

If Crysis2 and Gear of War3 graphics can run on 360 than I highly doubt this game wont be achievable also

face it, why alienate 2 million other potential customers just because of some fanboy who obviously thinks about himself rather than the company(nomura)....fire him and  hire Sakaguchi again

Crysis 2 and Gears of War 3 are going to be very linear experiences, much like FFXIII was. Final Fantasy Versus XIII... Isn't.

World Map.
Towns.
Airship travelling.
Oceans.
Cloud forming (Or whatever it's supposed to be)
Seamless transition between traveling and fighting.
Not Linear.
Actually looks better than FFXIII did, despite being non-linear.

Honestly, look at it.

It looks better than FFXIII, it's a far bigger game than FFXIII, and it's open world, which FFXIII wasn't.

This game if released on 360, would probably be 4/5... Maybe 6 Discs. There is just THAT MUCH content.

Could it run on the 360? Yeah. Sure. But it will be a compressed, inferior version like FFXIII was, and it would be on a LOT of discs...

Maps take up hardly any space. It's the CGI cutscenes that are the reason that FF games take up so much space.

Looks just like FFXIII to me.

Also stop exaggerating so much. Everything from chapter 11 til the end of FXIII fitted on one disc. That's basically half the game (25 hours not even counting the side quests). And yes that's the non-linear part.
3 DVDs would be a good bet. Maaaaaybe 4.

We know that it was technically inferior because they were starting too late with the port and didn't have the time to do a proper job.

Maybe they're already porting Versus right now. If they do, we should see a better result this time around.

I disagree.

I'm not exaggerating anything at all really. And no, Gran Pulse isn't half of the game. And it's not even really that much of a big area... The area's it spans off onto are Linear as hell too... And the side quests again, aren't that big. An enemy spawns somewhere and you have to go kill it. Wooooo! That's making the game so much bigger!!! No.

Final Fantasy XIII was 3 discs. And the game was practically on-rails. Versus XIII has a FULL open map world. Towns. Shops. Airships. Blood! It's a far bigger project than XIII was. No offense, but you obviously haven't been reading up on the Versus XIII news... No way Versus would be on 3 discs if a 360 version was released. Not a chance, unless the version would be an even worse port than the FFXIII 360 copy...

Plus, those 3 discs had very compressed CGI cutscenes.  If they hadn't been so compressed, like on the PS3 version, than it probably would have required 4-5 discs.  The way Nomura puts it, it seems he is only making this for the PS3 so that it will be an optimized experience for his vision.  If there is a port, it will almost 100% be guaranteed that it will be handled by another SE team, or maybe even outsourced to an outside team.  This will definitely result in a worse port than FF13 turned out to be.

If FF13 really showed me anything, it's that it going multi-plat only divided the audience it formally had, as opposed to bringing in new gamers.  I mean according to VGC, FF13 has only sold 4.3 mil units (with Wiki saying it has shipped 5.75 mil).  Just going by shipment numbers, that's just on par with the previous installment that was only on the PS2.  It's also 2.2 mil less than what FF10 sold (according to VGC) on just the PS2, and that launched on a smaller install base.  With the extra time and money it must have cost to create the 360 port, it doesn't seem like it payed off.

No those discs had poorly compressed scenes. Not to mention the fact that the first two discs of the 360 version of FFXIII had 1GB of of unused space each. I'm not saying that VsXIII on 360 would be identical to the PS3 version but if Treyarch can port CoD4 to Wii, I think VsXIII can be ported to 360.

Not the point. The point is whether or not a game can be as good multiplatform as an exclusive project.
...and it can't.

Does this look familiar to you?

This is pretty much the same tactic they are using over again to hire people. imo

The media is just blowing things way over head.

No it's not. For that they just said they need experience in hiring PS3 and Xbox 360. The Cloud picture doesn't mean anything. But for this they're specifically talking about Versus.

who didn't see this one coming? It's good news though. With the immense success of FFXIII, Square would be retarded to keep Versus an exclusive.

@darth - what has Nomura said about the game that the 360 can't do?

In an article a while back he said they are doing stuff like making in game battle system graphics look like CGI cut scene level graphics, real time cloud formation change or something....breakable environments. I mean it sounds like he really optimized it for PS3....from the way he said things in the interview it sounded like he was pushing Ps3 to its fullest.

Thats why I dunno if it can be ported to 360.

Oh please...

It is the same tactic like the poster above. It ask for experience in PS3 OR Xbox360 for the one with Versus. Since they specifically asking for Versus, it is because they want to speed up the development....
