Kinda grim article but some things are spot on.
Not all is lost however. New titles are coming out of Japan. A new trend seems to be developing a lead Wii version with an HD PS3 port. Samurai Warriors 3 recently did this, and the newly announced Rune Factory: Oceans seems to be doing this as well. Even though these aren't exclusives, Wii owners should be happy that they are still able to get quality games for their system that aren't made by Nintendo. Good third party games are out there, Wii fans just need to get over this idea that they can only buy Nintendo games. This isn't a new phenomenon, Nintendo 64 and Gamecube were plagued by the same curse. The Nintendo 3DS is looking to change things, coming out of the gate with excellent third party support. Hopefully third parties won't be shocked by the Wii successor's domination like they were with its predecessor and provide it with quality support from the start. I hope so, for the gaming industry's sake. Too many independent developers have closed their doors or merged with larger publishers because they gambled and lost on this generation. The only publisher I truly believe gives the Wii a fare shake is Sega, who has benefited tremendously from doing so. That being said, I'm hoping publishers wise up and deliver higher quality support next console generation.
